I recently stumbled upon this video teaser entitled “Dear White People.” It is a smart, poignant, and hilarious take on being a black student at an Ivy League university as well as raising issues of the black community in general.

It is a funny movie with a purpose- to make people think about the true state of society. At least that’s what I get from this. I actually watched this with a friend of mine and afterward we had a pretty deep conversation about society, music, mainstream media, junk food, and basically the black and “urban” community.

What do YOU get from this video?

The goal of the teaser, website and media push is to get enough donations ($25,000) to get this movie produced on a larger scale and hopefully into theaters nation-wide. I think people would actually go see this- I certainly would. They are actually close- over $16,000 last I checked which is a testament to the goodness of people helping out others.

It’s funny, we actually mentioned a few months ago the YouTube sensation “Shit ____ Girls say” and the writer of “Shit Black Girls Say”, Lena Waithe actually produced this film. She is hilarious and you know it.
