May 18, 2012

This Sunday May 20th join us at Jeronimo’s in South Beach for Sunday Service Confessions. It’s a new-ish weekly party where you write down your sins of the week , anonymously of course, and then start them all over again. The confessions will show up on the party’s website SundayServiceConfessions for everyone to see the next day.

With sounds by Fly Guy, the musical vibe is Hip-Hop meets reggae meets old school funk. Sound pretty dope to us! There’s free pop corn, games and a great vibe every Sunday !

Make sure you RSVP (code 1250) and catch us there!

sneaks

In my high school days as a sneaker wearing, Rocawear rockin’ ,super cool hip-hop chick I always felt clouded by the male presence in the streetwear/sneakerhead community. It wasnt until late high school that I discovered a website for ladies that geared towards chicks like me. That would be FemaleSneakerFiend.com .

Spending hours in the forums discussing WDYWTD , admiring other ladies collections , or buying/selling/trading shoes in the marketplace – I was a frequent visitor to FSF. Now years later, they have become more prominent and respected and are releasing a book in homage to all the girls out there with the sick sneaker collections dubbed properly “Girls Got Kicks”. And belive me, the ladies at FSF don’t play when it comes to their footwear.

The book features photos and interviews from all types of women in the sneaker game. Tons of photos and comments from ladies on their kicks and just an insight into the sneaker world from a different perspective.

Girls Got Kicks… the first ever photo documentary of the badass females, told from a unique angle: their passion for sneakers. From celebrities like WNBA Rookie-of-the Year Tina Charls, legendary b girl Rokafella, and “Downtown’s Sweetheart” Vashtie Kola, to extraordinary young women ramous only for their obsessive love of sneaker, Girls Got Kicks celebrates the beauty and diversity of female sneaker fiends the world over. Whether they’re running home in the rain barefoot to save their precious kicks or tearing them up at the skate park, whether they’re matching them to their wedding dress or their basketball uniform, Girls Got Kicks documents how these sneaker lovers push beyond stereotypes, using kicks to be both athletic and sexy, hip and tomboyish, grown and youthful, as they define who they are-and who women can be-on their own terms.

  • Vintage button-down A-line dress from Little Big Cat Vintage (Get it HERE!)
  • Kimchi Blue Sweetheart Ankle Tie Skimmer from Urban Outfitters (Get em HERE!)

I decided to keep it simple today. It’s hot outside. I have errands to run. I even took the bangs off of my face and twisted them into a messy little pouf. It is a beautiful day out today, so here’s hoping I can hop into a pool at some point!

xx

Happy Sunday
