On a very sunny and hot Saturday in Miami, I along with over 40 fitness enthusiasts joined celebrity trainer and extra dope chick, Jackie Warner on an hour-long cardio intensive workout on South Beach, did I say it was extremely scorching hot?

In partner ship with all-natural and all-perfectly pure Evian water, Jackie proceeded to beat our behinds and motivate us to the near point of exhaustion and luckily Evian was there on hand to keep us all hydrated. The workout took place at the beautiful Raleigh hotel located on South Beach as part of her three-city tour (New York, Los Angeles, Miami) to promote healthy and hydrated living with Evian. Located literally poolside, it was so refreshing and inspirational to see all kinds of people come together to workout. Any kind of exercise can be a big hurdle for some (including me!). It’s hard to stay motivated and even harder to be consistent when it comes to physical exercise, but Jackie’s encouraging words during the session made me think differently about fitness and how important it really is for all of us.

We did crunches, lunges, jumps, and tension band exercises ; proving that you can really get an intense workout without the help of a machine. When I say intense, I mean INTENSE but in a good way! Whenever I felt like giving up, Jackie would always know what to say to get me right back in the game; “I’m not doing something to you, I’m doing something for you.” Another thing I noticed was that there were several body types in attendance. From athletic and fit to novices among ordinary people who just honesty wanted to get fit. It really was about all different types of people striving to become fit together under Jackie’s wing with an urge to get our blood pumping for ourselves!

And pumping it did. No lie, I was sore for at least 2 days after this work out. If I didn’t have Evian at hand I probably would have passed out because the Florida sun was not playing that day! The Evian team was extremely helpful and cheerful. We also got these cute Evian goody bags filled with tension bands, headbands, cute body baby printed tees (Get it, Live YOUNG?), and healthy snacks. After the cardio session, Jackie had a short Q&A session with our group where she told us great healthy snacks and even shared that it its alright to have cheat meals as long as you stay on track with your daily fitness. Then, the group was treated to a healthy and delicious breakfast buffet which featured oatmeal, fruits, nuts, and other goodies.
It was honestly a very accomlplsihing day and a motivating experience. I want to thank everyone at Evian including Jodie and Anais plus the others who helped organize the event. Thanks again Jackie! You rule! Sigh, Amazing day.
Check out photos from the from the event below with a few personal ones mixed in there. Make sure to stay in tune with Evian and Jackie Warner below!

Wow. The art of photography amazes me. It allows us to see places, people, and things we might not have imagined could be captured or interpreted in a certain way. The Nikon International Small World Competition is no exception to this art as it brings together scientists and hobbyist alike in the art of photo-micrograph photography.
A photomicrograph is a technical document that can be of great significance to science or industry. But a good photomicrograph is also an image whose structure, color, composition, and content is an object of beauty, open to several levels of comprehension and appreciation.
Nikon Small World
Since its start in 1974 , Nikon has engaged the interest of light microscope photography with entries being received from the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. The winner photography of the 2011 competetion is pictured above – Igor Siwanowicz, Portrait of a Chrysopa sp. (green lacewing) larva (20X) .
Its especially amazing to look at the many photos of cells, insects, and plants (among other things) and see the incredible amount of detail and color created by the process of the light microscope photography process. This years Winners, Honorable Mentions , and Images of Distinction entries are an exquisite selection of photos and I highly recommend taking a look at the gallery and spacing out in amazement.
I did.

It’s crazy how much or how little someone’c appearance can change over the course of 8 years. In this video, JK Keller took a photo of his face every day from 1998 to 2006. It’s pretty funny to see his expressionless face with different hair styles and glasses. I see he went through a phase of, I’m assuming, wearing contacts before he got himself some snazzy nerd glasses. He also decided to “rough it” at the end with that long hair and beard. Feels weird to say but he got kind of hot.
Check out JK Keller’s Vimeo page
Here is the link to his interview with Cranbrook Design:
1. In “The Adaption to My Generation (a daily photo project)” You photographed your face in the same exact position every day for 8 years. A little ocd? Kidding, did you have a concept of what this work would mean to you when you started it, and what kind of meaning does the piece hold for you now that you’ve ended it?
JK Keller: It’s fortuitous that your reaction to the photo project, “A little OCD?” was the veiled compliment that many people have used to describe me when talking about the project. You were, perhaps knowingly, “kidding on the square” in regards to a disorder which plays an important role not only in this work, but informs most, if not all, of my personal projects. But before I go into its effects on my work, I need to lay out a few definitions (grossly simplified) so we’re all on the same footing with regards to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) & Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD).

Another month goes by and another art walk passes… I lub you Miami. Your 2 favorite bitches were out celebrating a chilly Saturday evening in the Wynwood district of Miami. We ran into a couple of old friends, made a few new ones along the crowded sidewalks and crazy delicious food trucks filled streets. We took a few flicks of exhibits- the ones that were still open anyways, seeing as how we have a terrible habit of arriving too late. I also have a habit of posting pictures extremely late so, lo siento chicos Check out the pictures of the night after the jump!
If you havent been to a 400 Life party , you are definitely missing out !
