This just in: Marc Jacobs’ Spring Summer 2012 collection has been stolen IN IT’S ENTIRETY. According to CBS news, the debacle came to light when the design house canceled its press day on Wednesday. According to The Daily Beast, an e-mail was circulated to the press on Wednesday morning, saying “our press day tomorrow in the Marc Jacobs store is cancelled, due to the theft of the spring/summer 2012 collections during its transfer from Paris.”
Many are speculating that the thieves could be counterfeiters and the iconic American designer’s looks could be showing up as knockoffs on the streets.
Marc Jacob’s S/S 2012 46-look collection was shown at Mecedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York on Sept. 15, 2011.
How crazy is this?? To steal a whole collection off a damn train, you know those thieves have done their research. Some one just stole a phone from my Sprint store the other day and I thought THAT took big balls. Let me see someone selling Marc jacobs’ newest threads on the street (cough cough Chinatown) I will feel a personal need, as a designer and lover of Marc through all these years, to lay down the law! (And by lay down the law I mean yell at the vendor, throw some big words at them and maybe snatch some things and run like hell.)
Anyways, expect the collection to be knocked off faster than I can type..
It’s OK Marc, you still rule and this will be a distant memory one day. Good thing this wasn’t a couture collection!
The entire collection wasn’t stolen, according to the International Business Times, a total of 46 looks were taken, including items from his main line, Marc by Marc Jacobs. These pieces were supposedly samples intended for editorial use, reports Fashionista.
Fashionista adds that the thieves must have snatched the luxury goods for the purpose of duplication, since it would be quite difficult to sell the clothes on the black market without garnering a lot of attention.
If the stolen items were samples, this means that they have not gone into distribution yet.
Jacobs is said to have duplicates of his looks which can be used in place of the pilfered ones.
However, WWD is reporting that the entire collection was not stolen, rather just some ready-to-wear and accessories.
The fashion publication did confirm the cancellation of the UK press day and added that a spokeswoman for Marc Jacobs could not personally be reached.
Check out the vintage 20′s and 60′s inspired collection: expect to see LOTS of vinyl and clear clothing soon…
Wow , this is really quite amazing. Love Louis Vuitton? Well LV got together for the second time with Charmelon Visuals and UK based artist Billie Achilleos to create these intriguing window displays for their stores and the result was an array of creatures and animals composed completely of LV bags and accessories. From a kitty cat to a beaver , these people really created some crazy designs.
*Earlier this year Billie Achilleos, the self-proclaimed “Maker of Things” was approached by Chameleon Visual to produce some very unique creatures for the debut windows of Louis Vuitton’s New Bond Street Maison. Each of the 20 bespoke animals was carefully constructed out of genuine Louis Vuitton bags, purses and accessories and resented in dome jars.
Check out her amazing handy work below and her website for more of her designs and creations.
I’ve got to say I’ve been eyeballing this fashion trend for a while now. Full headdress style turban or simply a headband – turband , this head accessory can really make you stand out and show that you have fashion balls. I simply this turban style is sophisticated and classy. I am definitely going to start rocking it this week for sure.
Of course fashion trends come and go and this one is no different. Spotted on stylist June Ambrose in 2007 and on the runways in 2010 , I’ve barely even seen this hit the Miami streets. SMH , people here are kinda lamo when it comes to fashion here. It’s so simple and easy , what the hell have i been doing this whole time NOT wearing these?!

I Love the Bearbrick candy machine holding that quilted purse!

Have you seen the beautiful Bulgari ads featuring a smoldering hot Juliane Moore? If not, scroll through this post- you’re welcome. She is hot, there’s no argument there. However, one thing that bothers me if that her mouth is slightly open in ALL of her shots. Literally, EVERY ONE. So I looked up some of her older magazine covers and lo and behold, open mouth! Sheesh woman, can I get some teeth or a pout or something else?? Other than that, her 50 year old self looks great. Enjoy the photos, pervs
Hey I guess she knows what works… Better than Paris Hilton
LOL
As you may or may not have known, the fashion super-mega-conglomerate LVMH ( Louis Vuitton, Moet, Hennesy) has had it’s all-seeing eye on the family owned Hermes house for quite sometime now. They purchased stock in the company and don’t seem to want to let it go. Some people think that fashion design is just about making art but in this day and age, it’s a BUSINESS complete with sharks in the water who want to capitalize on everything you do. And Hermes is making enough money off of it’s Birkin Bag alone to make even the biggest companies a little hungry for a piece of the pie.
Not familiar with the iconic Birkin Bag?
As so eloquently described by GeekPurses.com, Created for Jane Birkin, it`s been the most elusive fashion accessory in the world since 1984. Each Birkin is made by hand—that means sewn, buffed, painted and polished by a serious fashion artisan over the course of 48 hours work. It`s put together with Hermes signature saddle stitching, a 200 year old tradition using leathers collected from tanners around France (whoever has the finest material at a given point). Every Birkin is unique, one of a kind and fabulous.
According to Business Week, Hermes International SCA’s family shareholders sought to bolster their defense against a possible takeover by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA by setting up a holding company for more than 50 percent of the share capital.
The proposed company will have first right of refusal on the remaining shares held directly by the family, Hermes said in an e-mailed statement late yesterday. The family “have reaffirmed their unity and their confidence in the solidity of their current control of Hermes.” The commitment to create the majority holding is “irrevocable.”
“It’s an intelligent move,” Luca Solca, an analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein, said today in a phone interview. “At this stage, the likelihood that LVMH will be able to get a majority stake is significantly reduced.”
Hermes, the maker of Kelly handbags that retail for about 7,000 euros ($9,375), has said that the three branches of its founding family are “fully united” in their desire to retain control of the 173-year-old company after LVMH announced in October it had acquired a 17.1 percent stake via equity swaps and would consider buying more.
LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault has rubbished any prospect of a buy-out, insisting he is happy to be a “friendly” long-term shareholder [ via Vogue ] Makes you say hmmm….
SO, just who else does LVMH own?? As shown on the Official Website, they own Fendi, Belvedere, Kenzo, Loewe, Emelio Pucci, Givenchy, Makeup Forever, Dior, Celine, Marc Jacobs and Benefit, just to name a few.
