Happy Monday everyone.
While people are stuck at their desks, miserable in their cubicles or wherever they work, I present something to listen to to make our day a little better. We here at 2DopeBitches constantly get music submissions and it’s a mission to try and hear them all, let me tell you. No complaints though, because we get to experience new music from hungry, hardworking up and comers who are tackling their own PR and marketing along with working their 9-5′s all while making the music they are passionate about. That’s dedication. And sifting through the masses we often come across some real talent budding in So Fla.
Enter JR. The 21 year old Broward County native has been working hard on his 14-track mixtape, titled “Make My Mark,” dropping June 25th. His single, “The Good Life,” is an honest, gritty explanation of his struggles and dreams. I love his calm yet confident flow, wich reminds me of J Cole. The beats are well produced and the content is witty. Take a second to listen to “The Good Life” and feel free to check out his Reverb Nation page for more! Watch out for JR’s mixtape, produced by Royal Audio Tunes.
Why does this album remind me of The Love Below? If you’re not a long time reader of the blog then you probably don’t know I’m the hugest fan of Andre 3000′s The Love Below and live and die by its lyrics and composition. From it’s psychedelic mind wandering melodies to its catchy funk chorus hooks, the New Coast Blues EP is a surprise package of modern blues and hip-hop. Incredibly well produced and mastered, this EP caught me by surprise.
Well-Bred Delinquentz is an independent Hip-Hop duo from South Florida consisting of ‘Bass’ (Sebastian Carandang) and ‘Kid Zordon’ (John Diaz). They originally started by the name of ‘The Putty Pal Program’ as a comedy rap duo, during High School, in 2007. They have released 7 projects as the Well-Bred Delinquentz. They are currently still working on more projects, such as self-produced mixtapes, albums, and visuals.
I’m all for hip-hop that really isn’t hip-hop and this can pass as alternative and even indie rock and funk at times. Along the lines of XXYYXX with actual lyrics it’s the kind of music that takes you on an actual sonic journey. I love it, and if you have time the small six track EP is enough to keep on repeat as you work on your computer and realize its played 10 times. Yeah, It’s good.
Always delightfully surprised to see Miami, or in this case Naples locals create great quality products. You have a new fan.

Please take a moment to listen to a pretty dope instrumental track entitled “My Love Goes” by Morehouse student, Tri Randall. The track is trippy in a moody, calm way. With the angelic voice of Mariah Carey in the background (the track samples her song “Bliss”) Randall manages to still keep your head nodding to the Trap-y sounds. I’ve said it a million times but I LOVE when I can leave a song playing and just sort of zone out in my own thoughts. This is definitely one of those songs.
Head over to Tri Randall’s Soundcould for more chill tracks
It’s no secret that I almost never listen to the radio. We all know that shit is repetitive and I at least think it can get pretty boring pretty quickly. I will get into a long conversation with you about why I hate a majority of what’s “hot” right now in mainstream music if you let me. That being said, I do like listening to music, even just as a background filler, basically all day. It’s almost as if I can’t make a move without music. My mom was in a band in the 70′s. My dad plays the drums and guitar like Santana. My sister does too, minus the drums, add in the Classical Flute. I cannot escape my musical roots, so I’ll embrace them instead. More on that later.
I have really been on this wave of what I like to think of as Boutique Music- it’s what would be playing (in my mind) at some snooty, upscale boutique where the customer service probably is terrible but you don’t care because they sell Yohji Yamamoto and Comme Des Garcons. I’ve said it before, I really like music I can kind of zone out to. And more and more lately that zone-out music has been electro/soulful/and definitely nothing I’ve heard on the radio. Spotify has really become my best friend, playing me exactly what I want to hear and then introducing me to an artist I’ve never heard of. I know I’m not the only one. Spotify has introduced me to artists and bands such as Disclosure, Quadron, Julio Bashmore and Poliça to name a few.
Below are a few of my favorite songs for the moment. I hope you at least like one as much as I do. And if you are feeling it, head over to Part One of this series. Enjoy!
Disclosure Feat. Eliza Doolittle “You And Me”
DJ Shadow Feat. Little Dragon “Scale It Back” (Silkie Remix)
B. Bravo “Computa Love”
Parallel Dance Ensemble “Juices”

I’m a Southern girl at heart and nothing throws me back better than a little Kirk Franklin. When I hear AND watch this video I immediately think of Summers in Mobile, Alabama as a child with my Aunt Norma (yeah, I got my name from her). On her estate, my sister and I had to sneak watching music videos and we fell in love with the Holy Spirit! Man, you have no idea. After watching this video we made our Mom buy the Nu Nation Project by Kirk Franklin on tape and then it started a Kirk Franklin fad that continued until The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin album in 2002 (great album by the way, you should take a listen!).
Taking a refreshed and more mature look at the video, I noticed really how much fun everyone is having in the video! Sheesh, It looks like a party and there’s even a cameo of Coolio in it. If church was that exciting I’d probably go more often. Other than that Kirk Franklin has the God-given gift to make gospel music that is both commercially successful and really fun and enjoyable. Listening to his music always has me singing in the car. Anyways, hope you enjoy this throwback as much as I did!
Happy Valentine’s Day! As the holiday goes on, gifts will be given, “I Love You”s will be proclaimed and fancy dinner reservations all over town will be fulfilled. And who’s to say if your night will end in sexy-times or not? Either way, this mix by Atlanta’s own BLKKMORRIS (@BLKKMORRIS), aptly titled “Sex Trap 2″ will put you in that perfect mood. Part sexy R&B (notice the samples of Destiny’s Child and Erykah Badu) and part Trap music, with the electronic sounds and fast beats of the southern genre, this has a lil somethin’ for all the lovers out there.
I’ve been listening to this all morning, so my day has been pretty good so far. Press play below and hit that download for some late night jams.

In today’s musical environment, one’s image has never been more important, and that of course translates into musicians’ videos. Everyone these days has “swag”- the cool “it” hat or tee can be seen on basically anyone walking down the street. That’s boring now. One thing that an artist can call his or her own though is the visualization of their music. And one thing I love about really well done music videos is that it can be something so personal, so true to the vibe and meaning of the song, something that not everyone can jack and water down. Like, I’m tired of being told to Comme Des Fuck Down. Let’s see something dope and new !
There are two videos that caught my attention today that I have to share with you all. They are from very different musical genres: one a Philly based rapper, one a UK based electro producer, but they both have visually amazing videos. Check them out below and please note, they may cause seizures!!
Featuring a haunting sample of Fiona Apple’s “Every Single Night”. Directed by Qarim Brown. Tight work. A little bit trendy with the angelic baroque theme that is so right now, but still very good.
Follow Forte on Twitter @Gilbereforte for more updates!
Utilizing clips from the 1950′s in the craziest way, this video by Cyriak blew my mind. The amount of work this took is unimaginable to my feeble mind. The song is a little creepy and the video, at least to me, is a testament to American consumerism. Or maybe it’s just a bunch of GIFs.
Follow Bonobo in Twitter @Sibonobo for more info, his music is chill and perfect pool side.
This video reminds me of “Civilization” by Marco Brambilla. Check out our coverage of the amazing video installation HERE.
Peep the new visuals for Prez P (of Da Camp) ‘s single “As I Ride By” featuring Gaby Duran (of Duran Blu.) Giving you a look at the not so glamorous life of many a “video vixen” hopeful in Miami. There’s so much more than just being a pretty face, and too many girls get caught up and end up in situations they probably shouldn’t be in. The video was shot and directed by the ever talented Unkle luc, who never disappoints.
This is the second single off of Prez P’s album Dream SucceeDie – the album features Da Camp, J Nics, Phresh James, and Kris Calloway. Production from Numonics, Manuvers, Benny B, and BlackMarket. Mixed by Jukxxx, J Beats the Beast, Jairo and more.
It’s been playing in my house all day, the type you can just press play and not skip through.
