RootsPicnic5_470

Yes, there was a “cannibal” in Miami. He ate someone’s face. You can read all about it here. But there is some happy news in the world of 2dopebitches.com. The Dope Bitch herself Norma’s birthday is June 2nd, so do NOT forget to wish her a happy birthday! June 2nd is also the date of Just Blaze’s show at Grand Central- we’re giving away a pair of tickets so ENTER NOW ! Also, June 2nd and 3rd is the Roots Picnic in Philly. We will be there to cover the madness that is a 2-day picnic featuring performances by The Roots, Kid Cudi, Danny Brown (!), Diplo, Major Lazer, Rakim, Wale, Gianni Lee, Chill Moody, Flosstradamus, The Hood Internet, Star Slinger and many more amazing acts. Get your tickets here!

So, it’s a music festival, what do we wear?? I was thinking- the weather is going to be in the mid to upper 70′s, hopefully sunny and not too windy, so bandeaus, belly shirts and high waisted shorts would work, right? I looked up some music festival fashiion to get in the spirit and got to packing.

Here’s my inspiration. Stay tuned for my recap of the weekend and of course my fashion choices !

Rihanna is a sexy bitch- the high waisted thing is of course a dope trend. Oh and Miss Purple Hair to the left is killing it too.

Will I be daring enough for this see-thru style??

Flower Children at Ultra- I might add some Daisies to my blonde hair, who knows?

Simple- a nice bustier is an option- I might even wear my glasses!

Bathing Suit as Shirt works with the high shorts..gives a weird tan but who cares? That's a dope belt as well!

Arm Party? Check. Cool head piece and hippie bag? Check. Dope flats? Check !

Stay Tuned!

XXL reveiled their picks for the XXL Freshmen class of 2012. The list includes Machine Gun Kelly, Iggy Azalea, French Montana, Don Trip, Macklemore, Hopsin, Danny Brown, Kid Ink, Future and Roscoe Dash.

I’ve heard of many of the artists on this list and some never before. XXL releases their freshmen list every year with past lists including Kid Cudi, Wale, Curren$y, B.o.B., Asher Roth, and more in 2009 and Big Sean, J. Cole, and Wiz Khalifa in 2010. They made great predictions on whos to be a sucessful act for the year in the past. Will it happen again?

Heres a little about each artist, let us know what do you think about the 2012 Freshmen cover?

FUTURE- He’s been on the rap scene for a while now, but you might have just heard him recently from his track “Magic” feturing T.I. . It’s a dope track to ride down the streets bumpin’ loud (smokin loud?) and head nod too. Oh wait, how can we forget the track, “Tony Montana” ? He’s def making his share of street anthems and of course he’s from Atlanta, Georgia so you know hes a sure in for sucess.

IGGY AZALEA- Iggy is the outspoken white girl from down under who isn’t afraid to say some dirty words to get her point across. Moving to America from Australia at the tender age of 16, she has been hustling hard ever since. She is a bad bitch- effortless yet in your face style comes naturally to the blonde bombshell. Don’t get it twisted though- she doesn’t rely on her looks, she will spit a hot 16 against any dude who wants it. We love her. Congrats on her Interscope record deal! Dope bitches reign.

DANNY BROWN- Danny Brown has been putting on for Detroit for years now. He has a crazy voice, a CRAZY steeze fashion-wise and is not afraid to say what’s on his mind, no matter how it affects his radio plays. He has helped popularize Jeremy Scott‘s collection with Adidas by wearing his “wings” shoes and, most notably, the Tiger Tuxedo.  Check out our interview with Guilty Simpson where he shouts of Danny Brown.

FRENCH MONTANTA- This guy has been hustlin’ hard since 2007, alongside friend Max B and his “wavy” movement. I gotta give it to Frenchie hes been working hard at it for years so being added to Bad Boy Records rosters hopefully propels him towards more commercial sucess. He has talent plus he’s street, silly, and kind-of-in-a-weird-bummy-way cute. Check out some classic Frenchie below.

KID INK- Working with 2Chainz, Tyga, Roscoe Dash, and Meek Mill, Kid Ink knows his listeners and how to deliver it to them; either smoothly with a rap/melodic combo or hard rap style. Hard ass down South Beats are whats in and delivering the heat, his rap style goes along well with the other Freshmen in delivering songs for the streets and the club. Oh and did we add he’s kinda cute.

DON TRIP- We first got introduced to Don Trip by Dre from Cool & Dre. Once he put on “Letters to my Son”, the power of this mans word and ability to articulate stories though his lyrics are reminiesent of Tupac. This rapper is from Memphis, Tennasee and has been though it all. Rapping since he was in his teens and now 25 his hustle has proved him sucessful. Working with Empidemic reocrds, it was only expected he would make the Freshmen class. Im serous this guy has talent and in a way which creates movies in your mind while you listen to him. You might even shead a tear. Watch below.

MAKLEMORE- Maklemore is a refreshing take on the regular ish. Working with a live instrumental band, a producer side-kick, and his own lyrical talent, hes already performing for large audiences. An apparent Jordan head, his track “Wings” is fucking crazy and oh so real (hint, it’s about Jordans) ! Alright honestly, you have to hear him yourself. Talented man, no wonder he landed the spot. Oh and he’s handsome. :)

MACHINE GUN KELLY- One of the two white rappers on the list, Machine Gun Kelly a.k.a.Richard Baker is from Cleveland, Ohio and boy does this white boy have some heat. I’m surprised Aja isn’t in love with him yet, but besides that this guy has a dope flow and reminds me of a young Yelawolf. He’s got a fast flow which rides nice on tracks and hes won two Amateur Nights at the Apollo. Fast toward to 2012, hes on BET with French Montana and signed to Bad Boy Records. Congrats to MGK!

HOPSIN- This MC/producer/artist/director/actor?! has got everything to offer apart from the creepy white contact thing. Apart from that his sound is unique definetly and going astray from the whole club rap scene his flow reminds me of Eminiem with the whole hateful, story-telling, rough sound. Hailing from Southern Cali, he’s reppin’ for the West Coast which is def a nice change from the South rappers on the list.

ROSCOE DASH- This Atlanta-born rapper/singer first burst on the charts with his feature on the Summer anthem “All the way Turnt Up!” featuring Soulja Boy. You couldn’t go anywhere without hearing any of his songs in 2011, now we are all comfortable to hearing Dash being featured on other tracks. “No Hands” and “Marvin & Chardonnay” – automatic successes and its definitively is a connection to Dash and his unique sound.

YES! Another chance to see the super talented Santigold perform in Miami Beach is upon us. Philly born Santi White a.k.a. Santigold will be performing at LIV’s Dirty Harry party on Wednesday, Nov 30th. She will be accompanied by MMG signee Walé which is a random but pretty cool mix of musical styles. It’s funny, the last time she performed in SoBe for a Diesel concert in 2009 she was joined by Kid Cudi. It was a fun night, her dancers are AWESOME and I don’t know about you guys but I’m excited to see her. Check out my shitty cell phone pictures from that night below, and don’t judge me I was using an old Blackberry with no flash…

*Fun fact- the concert was held in late 2009, Norma couldn’t go because she was in JAPAN. Dopeness.

Anyways, LIV (the über club inside of the Fontainebleau hotel) is always packed so expect a crowd for this. Speaking of LIV on a Wednesday, I, Aja, attended last night’s Dirty Harry party and got to see Diplo spin (on his birthday) but was a little disappointed he didn’t strip out of his suit as I’ve seen him do for performances before. Such is life. Pictures from last night are coming soon! Oh, also I got to meet the gorgeous DJ Jessica Who, resident at LIV. Just wanted to point that out :)

no-money-300x300

I’m broke. I’m pleasantly and hopelessly broke. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t window shop through cyber space! I know you feel me on this one, it’s just so hard to not get lost the internet searching and dreaming about the things you’d love to buy. I love to look for coupons codes too and put them into the shopping cart of a website just to see how much of a deal I would get if I actually paid for it – but then I close the window because I can’t spend that kind of money. Quite sad really. I also search eBay endlessly for used versions of the things I so long for. Literally I’d buy a used pair of Chuck Taylor’s. Yeah, I’m THAT desperate.

Anyways, here’s some of the freshest and dopest gear in my opinion this week in my window shopping adventures. If you have the bread, Id say you cop some of these unique and signature items – perfect for any wardrobe that needs a little spike.

Jeffrey Campbell – The Cosmic Lita in Astral Print

Jeffrey Campbell. The Lita. Enough said. Wait not really, I am in love with Jeffrey Campbell and droll for any of his shoe designs. I don’t care what some high-scale snobby bitch says if he mimics styles from higher end brands, he creates something high-scale yet polished and unique with a pretty good price point. I just can’t afford the price point but hey I know its more reasonable than any fancy brands! The height and appealing silhouette of the Lita is eye-catching and screams DIVA! I love it !

Availble Via Karmaloop $160

Okay I may be over reacting but its dope. It’s a girl version of the BBC brand and I love it. I just don’t love that its 40$ and on top of that shipping is another 10$ – so $50 for this damn tank!? Kill me now.

Kid Cudi and Cage‘s song “Maniac” has finally gotten the video treatment it deserves however, us mere mortals will have to wait until the mischievous night of Halloween 2011 for the full video. Until then, enjoy the sneaky peak of the two guys setting some shit on fire and causing the mayhem that only maniacs could. PS- read up on Cage if you don’t know who he is!

The two rappers are working with Shia LeBeouf (who is the video’s director) on the violent short-film style visual. Check out the trailers below:

Hey guys, this Friday’s “Kid Cudi in Cudder’s Summer” concert at The Cove is, as of tonight, postponed.

We at 2dopebitches are working with the great guys at Major Event Marketing who are working tirelessly on a solution.

———–

Im sure many of you were alarmed when you saw what @wizardcud said via Twitter/Tumblr announcing the show is in Miami is fake.

Here is the official press release from the guys who put the event together:

Major Event Marketing/ Up-Rise presents: Kid Cudi in Cudder’s Summer, May 20th, at The Cove Miami, FL is cancelled due to a miscommunication with Kid Cudi’s new management and them not upholding his prior management obligations. We are currently working with his new management on postponing the show and rescheduling it later after he returns from his tour.

If you purchased tickets from the Inticketing web-site you will be refunded your money’s back directly from the site  and if you purchased a physical copy plesse send your email to the event page and we will work on getting you your refund.

If you didnt know , since before the beginning of his fame and the release of his 10 Deep Mixtape ” A Kid Named Cudi” , Cudi was in management with Kanye’s old mangement and producer , PLAIN PAT. On his twitter a couple months ago he announced he was no longer in partnership with him due to a different vision from his music and image. So in reguards to this event , they made arrangements with this old management and in the music business , this is how things go… :

Miami is definitely a comfy place for Cudi. I mean, he’s performed many times here at clubs such as Cameo and Liv ,  at a great Diesel Concert in 2009 ( Diesel U Music) and even shot the video for his hit “Memories” with David Guetta right next to The Daily restaurant on 20th and Biscayne Blvd. So hopefully we will see him again sooner rather than later.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest and showed love and support!

This past Wednesday your favorite bitches were in attendance to watch KENNA perform at Dirty Hairy , LIV Nightclubs’  hip-upscale fashion forward night. We have a blast as always and got to watch the man himself perform and it was incredible. If you’re not familiar then you need to get familiar because Kenna has been around for a while now. Working with such acts as The Neptunes, Kid Cudi , Lupe Fiasco , Linkin Park , and Mark Ronson. This grammy-nominated Virginia native artist has a unique sound which mixes electronic , R & B , dance , and more to introduce a totally different sound then your regular Lil Wayne – Dirty Money – ish. Check the footage for some of our flix of the night and the man himself showed us 2DOPEBITCHES  some love! He took pictures after the show with a few of his fans and we got to talk with him about our site. Always good to connect with the artist !

Video on the way soon ! Pictures below !

Take a listen to his new song “Chains” off his new album Land 2 Air Chronicles I: Chaos and the Darkness being released later this month and my favorite video for “Say Goodbye To Love” which is shot based after “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”.

So many people have yet to hear the slow, trippy, yet still beat-break intensive Chopped and Screwed music that I love so much. Originated by DJ Screw in Texas back in the 90′s, the songs are slowed down versions which are then chopped up (since just having a screwed, or slowed down song would be like 10 minutes long). Imagine all the rappers who were in those days “sippin sizzurp” and listening to southern rap on turtle time. I believe it takes a true musical talent to create a good chopped n screwed song because to know where to chop and how to keep the song sounding good takes a great musical ear. Anyways, it’s not only southern music that sounds good chopped and screwed. Ludacris and T-pain had the single called “Chopped n Screwed” which , of course, has all the elements of this southern style.  Even Miley Sirus sounds kind of good Chopped up!

Peep the videos below and zone out for a bit. Happy Saturday ya’ll.

Ludacris feat. T-Pain- Chopped n Screwed

Kid Cudi- Soundtrack To My Life

Biggie- Juicy (DJ Screw)

Miley Sirus- Party In The USA

Gucci Mane- Lemonade

Drake- Show Me a Good Time

2 Pac – Ambitions as a Rider (DJ Screw)

Miami opens its arms to Mr. Cudder aka Kid Cudi himself May 20th for “Cudder’s Summer”. Taking place at a seamlessly unknown place mentioned here called The Cove , I did a little more research and discovered they actually mean La Covacha which is known in Miami as a reffy spanish club. Strange that the people over at Major Event Marketing chose a location like this away from Downtown or Ft. Lauderdale where concerts would usually take place. Hopefully the odd location doesn’t affect the performance because  Ghostwridah , Saheed , and MayDay! are set to hit the stage – oh and don’t forget you heard it here but Cudders side-man Chip The Ripper will be rippin’ the stage.

Chip The Ripper Interview in the works? You will have to stay tuned. You can purchase tickets below for 40$ or 90$ for VIP access. This concerts gonna be bananas we havent had a Cudi performance for over a year ( If you don’t count Cameo as a performance smh) ANYWAYS look out for 2DB at this event and Im sure it will be a blast ! Hollar.
