In today’s musical environment, one’s image has never been more important, and that of course translates into musicians’ videos. Everyone these days has “swag”- the cool “it” hat or tee can be seen on basically anyone walking down the street. That’s boring now. One thing that an artist can call his or her own though is the visualization of their music. And one thing I love about really well done music videos is that it can be something so personal, so true to the vibe and meaning of the song, something that not everyone can jack and water down. Like, I’m tired of being told to Comme Des Fuck Down. Let’s see something dope and new !

There are two videos that caught my attention today that I have to share with you all. They are from very different musical genres: one a Philly based rapper, one a UK based electro producer, but they both have visually amazing videos. Check them out below and please note, they may cause seizures!!

Gilbere Forte “Pray”

Featuring a haunting sample of Fiona Apple’s “Every Single Night”. Directed by Qarim Brown. Tight work. A little bit trendy with the angelic baroque theme that is so right now, but still very good.

Follow Forte on Twitter @Gilbereforte for more updates!

Bonobo “Cirrus”

Utilizing clips from the 1950′s in the craziest way, this video by Cyriak blew my mind. The amount of work this took is unimaginable to my feeble mind. The song is a little creepy and the video, at least to me, is a testament to American consumerism. Or maybe it’s just a bunch of GIFs.

Follow Bonobo in Twitter @Sibonobo for more info, his music is chill and perfect pool side.

This video reminds me of “Civilization” by Marco Brambilla. Check out our coverage of the amazing video installation HERE.

Grey hair is amazing. It’s beautiful. It’s distinguished. It’s poised and elegant. It’s shocking and sometimes blue-ish. I think older women who rock their grey hair proudly instead of covering it up rule because they are OK with themselves and their age. Everyone said I was crazy for wanting grey hair which I’ve wanted for I’d say about a year. “Why you wanna look old??” People ask me, the 25 year old who looks like a highschool sophomore with no makeup, why I’d want to age myself. Me with grey hair only looks like ME but with grey hair. I’m sure I’ll still get ID’ed to go to R-rated movies and buy beer (it’s a gift and a curse.) I actually died my then bleached blonde (real) hair grey once earlier this year, but it wasn’t the white color I really wanted. It’s such a harsh process to go all the way white, my hair would probably fall out. Maybe a white/grey weave?? One day…

I think grey hair is so dope and underrated. Don’t believe me? Remember this post when it’s the new “cool” thing to do. With everyone dying their hair all sorts of crazy colors, its bound to happen. A lot of weird avant garde looks start on runways and trickle down to street level. This is no exception. Just look at ultra model Sky Ferreira. The gorgeous doe-eyed mannequin who is famously coiffed by amazing stylist Aura Freedman is now rocking a light grey look with light blonde tips. I think it looks amazing. Plus, having such light hair is the perfect platform for dying it all types of other colors that brown/black hair wouldn’t allow.

Check out some cool flicks from the Silver Hair Love Tumblr and the Sky Ferreira Fan Tumblr if you don’t believe me.

Teriyaki Boyz. The Japanese Hip-Hop rap group comprises of Ilmari, Ryo-Z, Verbal, Wise and Nigo. Nigo? Yes, CEO and founder of BAPE.

Getting their start in 2005, the Teriyaki boyz are signed under Nigo’s record label BAPE SOUNDS and have released three studio albums as well as worked with such producers such as Just Blaze, Daft Punk, Marc Ronson, DJ Premiere, and of course The Neptunes. As well as doing constant clothing collaborations with BAPE – the boys have achieved a tremendous amount of success and have had their own continuous solo projects even in their hiatus.

As you should know the groups member VERBAL is 1/2 of AMBUSH DESIGNS, the jewelry and accessories powerhouse along with his wife YOON. Also hes embarked on his solo career and just recently released his album VISION AIR.

First heard the group in 2006 with their American hit “Tokyo Drift” from the Fast & Furious soundtrack. It was on everyone’s I Pod. As my interest in street wear grew, the guys affiliation with BAPE and the fashion world made me more interested in each of the guys and their sound. I love all things Japanese and this band is no exception.

Watch the TERIYAKI BOYZ below, including a classic performance with OLD Kanye (Louie Vuitton Don era). Get ready for some ‘Serious Japanese’.

taz arnold

Taz Arnold is a lot of things. Fashion designer, producer, tastemaker ,and all around cultivator of cool. But with the debut of his new video we learn something new about him. He’s a freaky bitch. And he must enjoy getting his face painted, as its his way for him to transform into his all around crazy persona.

I must admit, this video will leave you speechless. In a good or bad way? That’s up to you, but you definitely will be left wondering, “What did I just watch?” and proceed to Google Taz Arnold.

If it’s not from his TI$A branded snapbacks or from his infamous presence among the Kanye West elite from fashion week years ago, Taz Arnold is that nigga and he deserves you to Google him, bitch. Not to mention us dope bitches got to meet and hang with the man himself this past Art Basel in Miami.

Norma and Taz at Basel Castle 2012 in Miami

And in a recent VICE interview with Taz himself, he shares a story of when he come across a freaky bitch in the flesh and what he did to handle the situation:

I had a girl one time, a really pretty Spanish chick.  And we were dating a little bit. But this incident happened before we got intimate on any level. One night we were in my loft, inside my studio smoking weed or whatever.  And I thought maybe she was with it and maybe I might smash. I wasn’t sure, so I was like, “let’s find out.” So, I’m sitting there chilling with this girl, holding her from the back and then she started laughing. I was like damn this is really kind of weird. What would be making this bitch laugh? Then she started to growl like a wolf. It was somewhere between a cat or wolf growl. I said, “Hold on,” cause I started to get spooked out, “I’ll be right back.” And I stepped out. Without being explicit, that’s a freaky bitch.

Check out the “Freaky Bitch” video below in all its face-painting, lip licking glory. And ask yourself, Are you a freaky bitch? Also Check out TISARECORDS.XXX to download his newest mixtape which features the freaky track, “Rad America”.

You’ve probably been hidden under a rock if you havent heard the buzz surrounding Kanye West‘s recent music releases. His latest releases feature a hard-street DJ Khaled laced track called Thermaflu. His other track debuts the latest addition to the G.O.O.D. Music roster - 2 Chainz called Mercy or what I’m going to call “MARCI“.

Producer Miami Marci always provides a refreshing rendition on several popular tracks and his MARCI Mix on “Mercy” is just as impressive. Take a listen to the track below as well as download it and his other compilations at MiamiMarci.com.

What is UNKNWN? If your completely out of the loop, UNKNWN is the newest concept store by the All-Star Akron, Ohio team consisting of Frankie Walker, Micheal Hurley, and Jaron Kanfer. With a little help from FRUITION Las Vegas owner and Kanye’s friend Chris Julian oh and a little known basketball player named Lebron James – this store is already set to soar.

Making the mall cool again, UNKNWN will be located on the first floor of Aventura Mall in Aventura, FL. The mall features such high-end stores as Burberry, Louis Vuitton, and Missoni , so UNKNWN will fit right in with their concept of high-end streetwear and lifestyle items. The store will feature brands like Original Fake, A.P.C., BBC, Just Don It, Band of Outsiders, Jeremy Scott, CDG Play, Phillip Yim, and Ambush – and the list goes on. There’s no other store like this in the Southern part of the United States and bringing an atmosphere of enlightenment and comfortably through the store they want to spread the word about fashion not intimidate.

No snobby know-it-alls at this store, just a humble and informative team of inspirational figures. Helping with the opening of the store is also Samantha Jo Alonso of FRUITON LV who inspires daily through her blog posts , along with her “Words of the Day” – her photos and lifestyle just add to the incredible energy which is going into this store. Check out the photos of the crew , styled and photographed by Samantha herself.

I also want to announce I will be working at this store and am completely honored to be working with such inspirational individuals ! My mentor Peter Bailey continues in his spirit of in-depth conversational interviews with this extended NiteCap session. He joins Big Sean on the road while on tour promotion his new album and gets personal and real with the Detroit rapper. Big Sean talks about Kanye, working with Nicki Minaj, his new clothing line, and even about his relationship with his girlfriend before the fame.

Big Sean seems to be a down-to-earth, humble, and ambitious person. Speaking to Peter personally I learned he’s nothing like his rapper persona and actually a really respectful guy. In comparison to his flashy, often sexual, and materialistic rhymes — it shows how creative and strong Big Sean must be to play a role but still stay yourself in the industry. This interview really made me see Big Sean in another light.

So check it out and check out his new website IAmPeterBailey.com!

no-money-300x300

I’m broke. I’m pleasantly and hopelessly broke. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t window shop through cyber space! I know you feel me on this one, it’s just so hard to not get lost the internet searching and dreaming about the things you’d love to buy. I love to look for coupons codes too and put them into the shopping cart of a website just to see how much of a deal I would get if I actually paid for it – but then I close the window because I can’t spend that kind of money. Quite sad really. I also search eBay endlessly for used versions of the things I so long for. Literally I’d buy a used pair of Chuck Taylor’s. Yeah, I’m THAT desperate.

Anyways, here’s some of the freshest and dopest gear in my opinion this week in my window shopping adventures. If you have the bread, Id say you cop some of these unique and signature items – perfect for any wardrobe that needs a little spike.

Jeffrey Campbell – The Cosmic Lita in Astral Print

Jeffrey Campbell. The Lita. Enough said. Wait not really, I am in love with Jeffrey Campbell and droll for any of his shoe designs. I don’t care what some high-scale snobby bitch says if he mimics styles from higher end brands, he creates something high-scale yet polished and unique with a pretty good price point. I just can’t afford the price point but hey I know its more reasonable than any fancy brands! The height and appealing silhouette of the Lita is eye-catching and screams DIVA! I love it !

Availble Via Karmaloop $160

Shiny cosmic patterned lace up boot with hidden platform and wooden heel; 5.5″ heel with 2″ platform.

Okay I may be over reacting but its dope. It’s a girl version of the BBC brand and I love it. I just don’t love that its 40$ and on top of that shipping is another 10$ – so $50 for this damn tank!? Kill me now.
