Ever since we revamped our site and tweaked our logo, we’ve gotten nothing but positive responses. Now we have pins, stickers, and some pretty bad ass business cards. One thing we were missing- and have recently added- are mirrors!
The simple accessory every girl and guy should have on them at all times, because who wants to walk around with food in their teeth?! We hope you guys like (and buy) our mirrors as much as we do- they are the perfect size- not too big or small, and make a funny face when used properly.
head over to our boutique THE COLLECTION now and support the movement!!
Here is an album to check out that isn’t on some trendy shit. It’s not swagged out and on the current trend- it’s a true story telling experience coming from Iron Lyon, or Jeff Lyons, resident AE Collective DJ and dope dude. Check out his info and a bit about the album below, along with his new video for “Step Into The Night” and DOWNLOAD HIS FREE ALBUM!
When asked to describe his latest album, Iron Lyon simply states: “it’s one smooth ride with no filler, a true album from beginning to end inspired by my life experience.” That’s precisely what the sophomore LP, “From the Ground Up” is. The seasoned emcee/DJ presents a work that cohesively sets a vibe of 90s nostalgia that is still relevant and much needed in today’s landscape. Set to drop September 6, 2012–as a follow-up to the “Time Capsule” LP & “The Foundation” EP–it is with much anticipation that the album brings listeners 16 tracks of audible substance. He not only raps on the project, but also showcases his turntablist skills by scratching over various tracks. This album’s unique musical formula additionally spawned from producers, Chad Dubz and Mr. Koichi, also features Sean Price, Edo G, Slim Kid Tre of The Pharcyde, and others

A couple months back your favorite dope bitches took part in a photo shoot in Miami’s Design District for Wordintown.com. It was a super hot day and the SPF was definitely on deck and we posed in the sun. We were styled by the talented Andrea who used her own accessories with our wardrobe and handmade jewelry for a couple dope looks. After much deliberating and a written interview, here is the final product! We are really happy with the way the photos came out- the distinctive Miami backdrop really set things off. The interview gives some insight into who we are, where we come from, and where we’re going. Check it out ! Thanks to Jose at Wordintown and Dro of The305.com !!
Your favorite 2 dope bitches recently teamed up with the rad clothing boutique MYFOXHOUSE.com for a mini lookbook shoot and we want to share a couple candid shots with you before we unleash the awesomeness that is to come.

We are proud to announce the introduction of THE COLLECTION ; an assortment of vintage pieces, original and handmade jewelry, and reworked One Of A Kind items curated by us 2DOPEBITCHES.
We really put our heart and soul into this collection. If you know us personally you know that we are HUGE vintage fanatics. You may also know that we like to push the envelope when it comes to our personal style. We pride ourselves on originality and personal expression and want to bring to you all a bit of ourselves in a way. We want anyone who comes across us to experience and embody a different kind of attitude and confidence, and that’s what we hope to establish with the store.
The store is our baby – we personally hand-picked and styled the entire collection, shot the photos and video ourselves, did all the editing for the whole project. We are lucky enough to have such amazing (and beautiful) friends who provided their wonderful aura to the looks. As well as professional make-up artist Leslie Ayala of Inglot Penthouse who did such a great job on the makeup. We couldn’t have asked for a better turn out and the product speaks for itself.
We sincerely hope that you enjoy THE COLLECTION and continue to check on the new products that are added as we travel the globe and share our finds and treasures with our readers.
Check out the look book and video below for a preview of what will be available once the store opens this FRIDAY!
I recently got a chance to talk to the front woman of Portuguese super group Buraka Som Sistema. Her name is Blaya Rodrigues and she is a tiny force to be reckoned with: definitely worthy of the Dope Bitch title.
I first got the pleasure of meeting Blaya during my adventures on Holy Ship (see photos here) and the first thing that stuck out about her wasn’t her crazy fashion sense- it was how nice and approachable she was. Actually all of the band members are really nice. She even posed for pictures and danced with fans on the beach. With Skrillex, Rusko, Steve Aoki and all the other completely unaproachable DJ’s on the ship it was a nice change of pace to be able to speak to her. Mind you her English isn’t the best- she’s still a sweetie.
Blaya is constantly changing her hair color and wearing some funky makeup. 2 Dope Bitches had to ask her a few questions about her music and style and what she does if she ever has free time.
Aside from standing out in a crowd ( a crowd she may currently be rocking , no less) she also teaches the crazy dance moves she performs on stage.
2DB- Who are you? Who is Buraka Som Sistema?
Blaya- Im Blaya, I’m a singer and dancer. Buraka´s a group from Portugal ( Lisbon)
2DB- How do you describe your style of music?
Blaya- Its all about electronic music.
2DB- What language(s) do you speak/sing in?
Blaya- Portuguese and English
2DB- What music/artists do you listen to?
Blaya- I’m kinda weird… I like mostly sentimental songs. but Azelia Banks, J*davey, Fat Freddys Drop, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Alex Clare, James Blake, Brazilian music.
2DB- What do you do in your off-time?
Blaya- I teach kuduro.
2DB- What color is next for your hair?
Blaya- lool good question! maybe green!..
2DB- WE LOVE YOUR STYLE- How do you decide what to wear to shows?
Blaya- It has to be pretty and short. i go shopping and [when I see the right thing] bamm!!!
2DB- How do you dress on a normal day?
Blaya- i have many styles, I can wear a jogging suit today and tomorrow I can [wear] a transparent thing. I really dont know!
Here is a bit about the band
Buraka Som Sistema is an electronic dance music project from Portugal, specializing in a fusion of techno beats with the African kuduro genre, and are generally credited with creating the “progressive kuduro” variant and have been awarded an MTV European Music Award.
Kuduro (or Kuduru) is a type of music and dance originally born in Angola in the 1980s. It is characterized as uptempo, energetic, and danceable. Kuduro, which translates as “hard ass”, began in Luanda, Angola in the late 80s. Initially, producers sampled traditional carnival music like zouk and soca from the Caribbean and semba from Angola and laid this around a fast 4/4 beat.
The music is fun- up beat, easy to dance to, and high energy. I applaud the fact that Buaraka is brining a sound native to them to the fore front. Like, they are passing on the music of the people for us to hear.

Did you see Blaya in the sequins??

Our good friend Gianni Lee has been making waves in the fashion world for a while now with his dope brand- Babylon Cartel- which is definitely worth checking out. But he is no simple man. Aside from fashion he does graphic design, throws crazy parties (with Maddecent no less) and is a pretty great DJ. He’s been putting together mixes- not just songs he likes- he’s been curating a sound- Trill wave.
Trill Wave is a mash-up musical style that encompasses gangsta rap, chopped and screwed, dub step, Philly dance, EDM and everything in between. His mixes include the likes of A$AP Rocky and Space Ghost Purrp and features new-comers like Ryshon Jones, Flatbush Zombies and Paris Artelli.
The Trill Wave mixtape was a collaborative effort between Gianni and Panda Reemy of ANMLHSE, another dope ass clothing brand out of Philly. Check them out as well. With these two musical dudes’ minds at work they selected the trillest music, then compiled it, created the cover art and brought you something no one else has!
Listen to his Trill Wave and Trill Wave DEUX mini mixes below and download the mixtape if you love it like we do.
