This bathing suit is HOT. This isn’t your mom’s old school one-piece. I mean, it’s a skin baring, sultry bathing suit that somehow seems pretty comfortable while showcasing all your goodies perfectly. Could you ask for more? And just in time for the Summer I might ad! The suit comes in Miami Heat White (I’m calling it that), an early 90′s Pastel Pink and Blue combination, and Black (which doesn’t really do it for me). Minimale Animale (the brain child of Fashion Design student turned Stylist turned Designer Cassandra Kellogg) took cues from this great city for it’s Summer 13 collection, aptly titled “Miami Vice.” It’s a little bit classy, very sexy, flashy, and attention grabbing, just like Miami.

I love the decadent feel of this suit. It clocks in at $285, and is available HERE.

Now, I’m going to start doing some hard-core pilates so I can rock this thing with pride. I’ll most likely open a lemonade stand to raise the money needed for this suit too!

Anyone who knows me knows I am obsessed with nail art. I’ve been going to the same girl (Sierra Storey @YouGotNailed) for over 3 years now, sometimes bringing in inspiration photos and ideas (even CD covers) and often collaborating with her on how we can take the designs to the next level.  This is no new trend- people have been getting crazy and  intricate nail art for decades, but it’s just now really becoming mainstream and more accepted. This is why I really love the new documentary “Nailgasm” (See: Official NAILgasm Twitter) directed by Brass. The booming nail art business is a breeding ground for female entrepreneurship- as majority of the artists are women, which is really dope. It’s so funny to hear people admitting that they’ve spent 3-4 hours  getting their designs. Now I don’t feel so crazy.

“NAILgasm, the one and only documentary about the rise of Nail Art and the women’s entrepreneurial movement it has caused.”

ANMLHSE (pronounced ‘Animal House’) is an amazing Philly-based clothing company created by a group of cool kids with official art school backgrounds. Designers Panda Reemy and Johnny Rabbit have an obvious theme affinity for animals, showcased in several of their designs and graphics from the line.  These guys not only create imaginative pieces for the clothing line but are really great graphic designers as well. Their designs are always fresh, sometimes funny,  and never gimmicky. I am actually obsessed with their Newport Cigarette inspired pocket tee (and by the way, pocket tees rule the world) which features a fake pack of cigs  as the pocket and the Newport slogan “GUILTY PLEASURE” on the back in the familiar ad style. It’s beyond dope.

The company is all about brotherhood- fitting, being from Philly. It’s all about spreading love and building with the creative people around you. One thing I really appreciate about the brand is that it appreciates the loyal fans, which are dubbed ‘Anmls’. They are like one big well-dressed happy family. I got a chance to catch up with the guys while in Philly for the Roots Picnic in June, then again at the Trillectro concert in DC this past August. AnmlHse is the official brand of Raider Klan, making sick shirts and hats for the crew and  it’s growing fan base. The brotherly love has spread from Philly down to Miami and is even international. Seeing photos of stylish Japanese kids in Raider Klan tees and Party Animal strap-backs is the norm.

Anyway, the people at AnmlHse are super nice guys and, thankfully, we scored some pretty good shirts and hats before it was too late. This brand is on the rise, and style quickly get sold out. You can buy AnmlHse clothing from Karmaloop.com as well as many retailers in Maryland, Philly, New York, France, and Japan! These guys are really killing it. By the way, the Guilty Pleasure pocket tee is available on Karmaloop, it’s sold out on AnmlHse.com.

You’re welcome.

Make sure to check out the official ANMLHSE site for MERCHANDISE + INFO.

Also visit their KARMALOOP STORE for more goodies.

We’re rocking:  Grey Zebra Heart Tee ,  Guilty Pleasure Pocket Tee and Floral 5-Panel hats.

Nasty Gal, the online retailer of fashion-forward clothing that many girls have come to check on daily has finally come out with their own line of edgy-chic clothes. I, for one, am excited. Nasty Gal consistently offers dope, non-boring choices for party dresses, shoes and jewelry, has great sales and understands the client. That being said, the team at NG is perfect for designing even more awesomeness.

The inaugural collection is is dubbed “Weird Science” and takes cues from 80′s teen angst, computer files, lots of metal and almost awkward details.

I honestly am not a huge fan of corset-style lacing and this collection has more of it than I would like. The leather shorts and the mesh moto jacket, for instance, would be much better and wearable without this detailing.  I STILL AM LOOKING FOR MY PERFECT PAIR OF LEATHER SHORTS! It will happen one day…

Overall NG’s Weird Science is pretty solid- everything ties into the computer theme with the cute prints and witty style names. I think there is something for just about every girl (and some guys) in the collection. Prices range from $58 to $458.

Here are a few of my favorite peices:

Network Dress

This dress is the bomb.com- It’s classy and sophisticated and screams “I’m a boss” while remaning sexy and refined.

Backslash Cardi

This cardigan looks so very comfortable and soft. I love the color blocking. The cut out elbows do nothing as ar as functionality, but are esthetically pleasing.

ASCII Leather Moto Jacket – Fringe

This jacket really doesn’t need any written reason why it’s on my list. LOOK AT IT. Knee length fringe and pebble grain leather.

Hashtag Sweetheart Dress

Gotta love the name of this one. With everyone on Twitter and Instagram going hashtag crazy, it’s fitting. I am digging the A-line and pointy bustier type neckline. Paired with some witchy boots this dress  really is a #Sweetheart

Watch the trailer from 1985′s Weird Science to see where it all started.

My girl Sierra Storey (check her blog) has struck again, giving me the dopest nails on the block (as always). This time she incorporated the art of Parra‘s Darcel, a print made by Freebase, a fashion spread from May’s W magazineWilma Flintstone, The cover of the new Beastie Boys album and a mural by LA’s Retna .

Here’s the work in progress of the Darcel landscape, peep the original below:

I am in love with this shoe- the oversized and graduated “studs”, the all-black-everything appearance with that tiny strip of white, the extra-grip outer soles.. These shoes look like, to me, something that a spy would wear to a fancy party so she can look cool but still whoop some ass and run if she needed to.

The designer is Alejandro Inglemo, a Parson’s educated shoe fanatic. I never heard of him until today but I am now hooked.

According to his WEBSITE:

This September, Ingelmo opened his first boutique at 51 Wooster Street in Soho, New York. As a forth generation shoemaker, he has followed in his family’s footsteps with his boutique inspired by the shoe store his grandfather owned in Cuba. With thoughtful touches reminiscent of the Cuban shop, Ingelmo’s walls are adorned with nostalgic black and white images of his grandfather’s factory and store. Midcentury furniture and classic shoeboxes lining the walls mix with the modern lighting and fixtures to bring to life the extensive lineage and Ingelmo’s passion for shoemaking.

This past Wednesday your favorite 2 Dope Bitches hosted the first of many dope events in Miami Beach at Soles Inc, one of the premiere sneaker stores in South Beach!

*sidenote- check out this post I did months ago about some really ILL spots to get fresh kicks in South Beach!

The event was a Spring Break Release party for a collaborative T-Shirt design by the Philly clothing companies Babylon Cartel and ANMLHSE. Check them out- they are certainly the ones to watch for!

So, nothing is ever truly perfect and our event was no exception to that rule. That being said, the night went really well with some of Miami’s (and Philly, Ohio, Maryland, DC and who knows where else’s) most amazing people who came through to show love. DJ Ollie J, as always, was spinning the soundtrack to a great crowd, rocking the really dope shirt he designed with Sole’s owner Adam Bishop. Check out the website for Soles Inc. to stay up to date on what’s hot in the world of kicks and check out the blog while you’re at it!

This was the first thing Norma and I have ever hosted so of course we were worried about turn-out, issues and anything that could have gone wrong but this really was a success. The crowd was mixed and so many different, awesome artists and individuals really made this event. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who supported the cause that night!

And, it being a fashion event held at a sneaker store, the shoe-game of our guests was CRAZY. We are going to do a post just on the shoes of the night. So Kudos to you guys ;)

Check out the illustrious MOMMYWARBUCKS for her coverage of the night (amazing photographer, btw).

The cool guys from truefxckinstory stopped by as well as the HotDamn! crew, the crazy dudes of Metro Zu, our boy Customz from Draw Away The Fat , Phil from Lavish Exposure and Dre from MIA Skateshop! We also made new friends with the stylish guys over at The Urban Relaxation. The amount of love shown Wednesday is just incredible.

And did I mention that this dude washed my car?? That’s right. I parked my car in front of Soles Inc and random guys were leaning on it so I went to them and asked them to watch the car for me (cause I knew if I asked them to get off they would get back on as soon as I went inside the store). Well this bamma was drunk and must have heard “wash the car” and I made him pinky promise to “watch it” and next thing I know, he’s outside with a bucket and some newspaper. Score.

We will be invading your to-do list with more events so stay tuned!

Now for the fun part, the pictures!! Peep them on the next page!!

Stefano Pilati has been the talk of the fashion town for some time now as many suspect he is “own his way out” of his Creative Director position at Yves Saint Laurent. His show at Paris Fashion Week went on without a hitch and garnered critical acclaim. What stood out to me, the shoe-obsessed accessory  designer that I am, were the shoes. Just take a look! They are wonderful.

That Art Deco inspired gold wedge! That Kiltie black pump! That architectural wedge! And those cabochon stones studding a teeny tiny peep toe ankle strap wedge ?!? I am dead.

And then comes the strappy sky high wedge.

This shoe is so beautifully designed- from the sky blue velvet all the way down to showing the perfect amount of toe. I have passed on SO MANY pair of shoes based solely (pun intended) on the amount of toe that is shown. Too much toe is like having your whole foot stick out-gross.

Anyway, the style is completely on trend with the chunky heel and >1″ platform. The contrast of the gray and blue gives the shoe a sophisticated and chic look while staying fresh and youthful.

Nicholas Kirkwood is the man. Hands down, he is a shoe-design genius. He has done work for Rodarte, Manish AroraMeadham Kirchoff and Peter Pilotto all while maintaining the leadership at his own company. His rocker-bottom shoes have inspired hundreds of knock-offs world wide. He is now Creative Director of Pollini and is wasting no time collaborating with Michael van der Ham for the Spring Summer shoe of 2011.
