+GONE+ 8 BW

This past December, as Art Basel took over our great city of Miami , it brought with it a whirlwind of out-of-towners. One group I’m glad made the trip are the great people over at FRESH.i.AM in Atlanta. Let me tell you, they are some super cool, hardworking, creative mofo’s. A trip to the A is definitely in order for 2DopeBitches.com. Until then, all we have is our memories. And by memories I mean crazy pictures from Trap Paradise, Basel Castle and of course, Hard To Leave (the epic end-of-Basel party at Goldrush strip club) and also an impromptu photo shoot with myself and my doppelganger Lynn by the Biscayne Bay, shot by the crazy and talented Vinny Bdock.

I wore a black on black Roxie Rapture tee (GET IT HERE) along with the GONE beanie (that actually isn’t available just yet). Until then, feast your eyes on the Eye Beanie, my other favorite in the collection HERE. One thing I love about this brand is their dedication to detail. Everything is handmade locally, and no two pieces are exactly alike. The shirts are distressed one by one, a painstaking process that ensures each one is perfectly imperfect. It’s a special thing when you can actually feel how hard someone worked on the item you just shelled out your hard earned money for.

Make sure to peep the whole collection, read their blog to stay up to date on future events, and check out their super dope black and white editorials.

It’s that time of the year again. The man in charge of it all Max Pierre celebrates his birthday this Wednesday at SET Nightclub in South Beach. Max Pierre, one half of AE Collective and self-made entrepreneur is a man of all trades. From opening up Miami’s premier street wear and high-fashion shop (BEFORE any of us knew what fashion was) called ARRIVE here in South Beach to opening up AE Gallery and bring ASAP Rocky to Miami during Art Basel – he’s done it all and then some.

Now he brings legendary Hip-Hop heavy weight Talib Kweli to Miami to celebrate his born day and I’m sure it will be incredible. I’m excited. Us 2DOPEBITCHES have nothing but respect and admiration for this man who we can call our boss and friend and would love to invite all of our friends out for his birthday this fourth of July!

Check out the info below and please make sure to RSVP so there are no problems! See ya there!

Join us this Wednesday for a very special night of “Make Hip-Hop History” with AE Collective’s Talib Kweli on the Turntables along w/ Music by Fly Guy, DJ Iron Lyon, & DJ Obscene in Celebration of Max Pierre’s Birthday!

2DB x Jonathan Manion

This year’s Art Basel week (Dec. 1-5) was highly anticipated- we knew it was going to be a fun whirlwind of art events, parties, friends back in town, and meeting lots of new ones. Celebrities and art collectors flocked to the City of Vice to see and be seen, and us 2 dope bitches were right in the center of it, sort of.

We attended some events, shmoozed and took lots of pictures!

Check out some flicks from our adventures below and be sure to check out our Facebook page for all of the pics of the craziness that went down! We had a great Art Basel filled with networking, promoting, and spreading the love that is represented by 2DOPEBITCHES! We hope you guys enjoyed it as much as we did and we are so thankful for the love and support by all of our readers! Enjoy!

Tuesday, November 29 , 2011 -

During the opening reception fo Design Miami this year, we got to meet the Miami stars of the reality show Project Accessory while sipping on free Perrier Jouet champagne. Not to mention I got to slide into the Fendi Collector’s lounge where I could see my very own handy work (I helped sew some pieces for an exhibit.) After that we headed over to the M building for their reception (more free drinks of course) where I got to witness the great Takashi Murakami sculpture created by Pharrell Williams and Jacob the jeweler.

Wednesday, November 30 , 2011 -

We headed over to the Delano hotel in South Beach to see the band Salem perform by the pool. Their mellow, dark twisted synth laden songs were accompanied by two writhing, almost naked dancers in the wding pool. Afterward we enjoyed the fancy open bar and I even found out one of those dancers is from a town in Connecticut that I beat at track in high school! after that we hit up a Le Baron party before quickly stopping at LIV nightclub to see Santigold perform.

Thursday, December 1 ,2011 -

We hung out at the AE Gallery (free drinks galore, but I drank Perrier to keep balanced in my 6 inch heels!)  where Reebok along with DJ Clark Kent were presenting CLASSIC – photographs by Jonathan Mannion. The gallery was filled with photos of famous figures, primiary from the Hip-Hop world in which Jonathan himself has built a relationship with over the years. We got a chance to meet this talented man and he is a certified 2DOPEBITCHES supporter! Later A$AP Rocky performed for a crowd of socialites, designers, and more and we even gotta chance to speak fashion with A$AP himself. Iggy Azeala, Jasmine Solano, Dee and Ricky, as well as Gabrielle Union were all in attendance for this very fun-filled opening reception. We seemed to have seen everyone at this event and hung out with a few great friends! The night ended with a stop by FRIENDSWITHYOU where Pharrell was spotted and his liquor Qream was being served to the public. Gabrielle Union also joined the small reception as Friday night came to a close

Friday, December 2 ,2011 -

The AE Gallery was the hot spot once again as this night Rick Ross joined Johnathan Mannion for a Q&A session and after Fabolous stoped by to sign one of his photographs. DJ Clark Kent and Mi Gente Clothing also stopped by to show love to the artist and stunt on the crowd. We also got the chance to stop by Fendi Casa where the UNKNWN Miami crew were throwing a reception along with Beats by Dre. Beautifuful people were everywhere!

Saturday, December 3, 2011 -

Then we met and hung out with Taz Arnold and crew at Basel Castle on Saturday and saw our friends Cris Cab and Yelawolf perform along with Prison Penguins and Ninjasonik. Not to mention that Pharrell was there to kick the performance of his artist Cris Cab. Other appearances included Jasmine Solano, Theopolis London, and Dee and Ricky yet again! That was a great night to say the least! DJ Craze was on the 1′s and 2′s during Yelawolfs set and, super randomly, Norma and our “Pretty & Nice” friend Meli made sandwiches while Yela performed.

Sunday, December 4, 2011 -

Sunday was pretty chill and also my boyfriend’s birthday, so I took a day to relax with him and wind down from all the craziness of the past few days. We hit up the Native Shoes party at The Standard before hitting the spa. Then we went to Chocolate Sundays at Purdy and started all over again.

I miss these types of mixtapes. Remember the kind that actually had a mixture of songs from different artists which were the hottest songs at that moment in time. Yeah, those. This mixtape which was released for this years Art Basel is dope with songs like J.Cole‘s Mr. Nice Watch and the Niggas In Paris Remix with T.I. – so get back to feeling like its middle school summer and download this mixtape from Air Force King himself DJ Clark Kent – and of course presented by the always reppin it, MI GENTE CLOTHING and COOL Js.

Miami can be so cheesy and overdone. At the same time Miami is so cool- full of great artists, musicians, smart people and great vibes. One dope thing about this place is the art and while all of it may not rub everyone the right way, there’s so much to be seen and appreciated, everyone can find something that makes them feel happy. That’s what’s so great about the arts- subjective to each person, it’s never really wrong. Anywho, before I go on a rant, check out “Wall & Paper” at the M Building in Miami. It’s right around the way (my way, anyways.) We actually just drove past this…

JR is a Parisian photographer who is famous for both his street installations and the fact that even as a popular artist his identity has remained unconfirmed. Now, JR has taken on the wall at the M Building in Miami, which is an introduction to his show “Wall & Paper” set to debut today at the Galerie Perrotin. The piece features JR’s common motif of large, bold eyes, which have appeared in multiple contexts around the world, and for this exhibition, he presents never-before-seen pieces presented in a multitude of formats. The artist also recently opened an exhibition of the same name in Paris, and has received attention for winning the prestigious TED prize this year, for which he received a $100,000 grand prize and “one wish to change the world”.

Oh , how I love you Miami. Every second Saturday of the month, the Miami design district aka Wynwood opens up its doors to welcome all people to its galleries. This small area gets the most traffic during the night and rarely do we appreciate it in full light. I was near Wynwood and my attention turned to a certain gallery in Wynwood called Kavachnina Contemporary. The sculptures outside are interesting and each different from each other.Roman-like brick statues mix with an iron tower with cut out heart shapes. Take a look at some of the art lying in out Miami streets. appreciate.

Monday to Friday from 11:00am – 6:00pm

Saturdays by appointment.
