We here at 2DOPEBITCHES love it when our peers are doing great things. And when people are willing to stop at nothing to make a difference in their world, that is an admirable thing. My friend Julian, who I went to Art School with, has been working tirelessly on his company, Wynwood Skateboards, a company that aims to bring artists and skaters together.

The concept of the company is to provide high quality, USA made skateboards that feature artists’ work that people might not have seen if it wasn’t on their skateboard. They also provide tee’s, beanies, super slim “skate” wallets that hold all the essentials,  5-panel hats and one-of-a-kind tie-dye logo shirts. You can purchase a cruiser or regular “street’ board, to hang on your wall or fully equipped and ready to ride while knowing you’re purchasing a dope board with a great purpose. I want two.

One thing I’ve noticed is that there is SO MUCH dope art and talent in this city, but living here kind of makes you take it for granted. Have you ever noticed the out-of-towners and how much they LOVE Wynwood? When you live in a wack boring city, the Wynwood walls are amazing and new. That’s why I think it’s such a great idea to get that art to as many people as possible- everyone can’t just go to Art Walk every second Saturday.

Check out Julian’s page on Kick Starter HERE and PLEASE, support the movement!

They are taking donations in many forms- from just $1, or different packages like the $15 package that gives you assorted pins and stickers, the $25 options for a beanie or a shirt, up to a limited edition $150 option that get’s you a deck featuring a Wynwood artist (and signaure), along with a 5-panel hat or beanie, a slim skate wallet, a shirt AND assorted pins and stickers. You can also get ALL OF THOSE GOODIES along with the complete board- wheels, trucks, grip tape, etc, ready to ride for $175. Everything is designed and constructed here in the USA and suports Miami to the fullest!

ONCE THE COMPANY REACHES $25,000 THEY WILL BE BACKED BY KICK STARTER, A NOT FOR PROFIT COMANY BASED IN NEW YORK !

Help a great movement and get some dope skate gear while you’re at it!

In 1992 Reebok was looking to strengthen their presence on the basketball courts – so they teamed up with Shaquille O’Neal to create the SHAQ ATTAQ, a lightweight stability shoe that features pump technology on the tongue. Being re-released in select retailers this April 19th, 1973 by Mr.R has put together quite the Miami launch party for the retro sneaker. I’ll be out here in full force supporting the team, so you should be as well.

I’m a Southern girl at heart and nothing throws me back better than a little Kirk Franklin. When I hear AND watch this video I immediately think of Summers in Mobile, Alabama as a child with my Aunt Norma (yeah, I got my name from her). On her estate, my sister and I had to sneak watching music videos and we fell in love with the Holy Spirit! Man, you have no idea. After watching this video we made our Mom buy the Nu Nation Project by Kirk Franklin on tape and then it started a Kirk Franklin fad that continued until The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin album in 2002 (great album by the way, you should take a listen!).

Taking a refreshed and more mature look at the video, I noticed really how much fun everyone is having in the video! Sheesh, It looks like a party and there’s even a cameo of Coolio in it. If church was that exciting I’d probably go more often. Other than that Kirk Franklin has the God-given gift to make gospel music that is both commercially successful and really fun and enjoyable. Listening to his music always has me singing in the car. Anyways, hope you enjoy this throwback as much as I did!

The second installment of YNG’s “No Sleep Till Boogie II” has recently released and it has been playing in my house for hours now. The production on this album is really tight. I love how in such a hater city as Miami, there are still people from different camps working together. There was a lot of Miami-local love on the New Yorker’s album, from song features to design elements. Enough about that, the music speak for itself. Hit that download link below, it’s FREE, and you won’t regret it.

YNG explains a bit about what this albums is to him:

“NSTB2” is a testament to a year filled with Rooftop sessions at the Vue after NYPD hassles to battling student loans and family members going away. In conversation I tend to ask myself how to juggle all these thoughts and I think I’ve successfully done so with this release with features from Quest, Prez P, Mike G, M Cash & more. I now present to you No Sleep Till Boogie II.”

Executive Produced by Wally West, Executive Produced by YNG

Download the album FREE here !

Make sure you check out the Official Page of NSTBII for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram updates as well !

Need more YNG?? Check out THIS POST we did a little while back on who YNG is, his story, and his single “Still Not A Player” featuring Ordinary Cool.

We here at 2DOPEBITCHES.COM always are on the look out for new and exciting fashion concepts that will make sure the wearer will stand out in any crowd. Enter: Chromat Garments- “Structural experiments for the human body” According to the official Facebook page. The young company (founded in 2010) seems to take cues from a broad range of sources such from the crinolines of the 1800′s to the iconic Jean Paul Gaultier bra of Madonna’s 1990 Blonde Ambition tour, with Comic Book Villains and Carttoons also adding to the melting pot of ideas.

I love the way the pieces range from demure and relaxed (small bow head band) to extremely outrageous (red “Jessica Rabbit” Cage dress). The creator, Becca McCharen, has a background in Architecture and Urban Design. Some of the garments take design elements from scaffoldings and buildings, while others mimic exoskeletons or even superhero masks. The ideas are intricate yet simple, and leave room for each wearer to really personalize the pieces. All of the cage pieces are made to order, so it takes about 3 weeks to be delivered, but I think it’s totally worth having that jaw-dropping conversation starter in your wardrobe. I need some of this in my life- maybe I’ll start small with the Mickey Mouse ears or the Cat Ear headband.

* Fun Fact: The 135 backup dancers for Beyoncé’s Super Bowl performance this year were all wearing Chromat harnesses- Kudos to Chromat for getting into the best show of the year and to the stylists who paid that extra amount of attention to detail !

Now, who’s daring enough to pull these looks off??

Check out all the Chromat Collections HERE !

Make sure your follow Chromat on TWITTER and FACEBOOK as well for updates on new collections and pieces !

Tropical-Trapping

Miami Trap Ambassador and producer Miami Marci has released his first mix in a series he dubs, TROPICAL TRAPPING VOL. 1. His first of a compilation of carefully prepared mixes and podcasts, Miami Marci perfectly introduces electronica and new genres to the elemental Trap music which has become popular recently but which is a primary influence to diversity of Miami Marci’s sound.

Starting with Miami’s best kept secret Bobby Biscayne and ending with Packs by Migos, you hear a little something familiar and a bit not so familiar as you get into TROPICAL TRAPPING. Looking forward to more mixes by this talented artist. :)

Thought I’d share some of my favorite looks from Dimepiece Designs lately with our readers. I’m infatuated with women’s street-wear and the evolution of what its become throughout the years. It’s less street-wear and more high-fashion ‘comfy’ oriented, if that make any sense. The amazing women over at Dimepiece Designs have been creating unique and forward-thinking pieces since 2007, and I’ve been a fan since high school. Their lookbooks are great style guides and always give me great ideas on how to dress even without Dimepiece on. This Los Angeles based brand created by Ashley Jones and Laura Fama screams Downtown-Los-Angeles-thrift-girl-who-effortlessly-looks-amazing. It’s everything you wish you could pull off. Sports-bras with mesh tops and cut off hoodies with pointed high-heel boots. I love all their new looks and I literally cannot choose which one I love more. Their new sports-bra tops are f*cking dope, especially with their geometrical neon back design. The “OH SHIT!” all over print top and leggings are dope as f*ck too. This whole collection screams Norma. Also, they have a great variety of new accessories including this very handy neon duffle bag and great graphic phone cases which feature Aaliyah and Tupac in all their glory. Can’t wait for their  2013 Womenhood collection coming soon.
