Every now and then we come across a music submission that we just can’t ignore. Amoung the hopefuls something catches my eye. It’s difficult for struggling artists to keep a standard of professionalism in their recording and craft, which I understand. But when an artist reaches this standard without a professional studio and all the tools established artists have, I find that inspiring.
That’s where 24-year-old Las Vegas native Machine comes in. With all the complexity of life, he’s come out of his own personal darkness to create his first album. Collaborating with producers such as Skywlkr, Denmark Vessey and Black Noi$e – his 11 track album is a personal journey though his mind. Professionally done and filled with emotion, Selfish Bastard reminds me of a young Eminem, filled with the explicit but honest tongue and emotion of Marshall Mathers but with his own story to tell.
Machine describes the album as, “Cathartic raps over nasty beats. This album discusses my experience with major depression and being borderline suicidal. Just want to tell people they’re not alone.”
He’s definitely not alone, as everyone feels down and out at some point in time. As honest and deep as Machine gets his greatest achievement is that he can create a piece of personal art to show his journey to the world. I recommend you download and give the album a listen. It will definitely get you thinking.
