Tupac Amaru Shakur was born June 16, 1971. Also known as Pac / 2PAC / MACAVELI, this man has left a monumental legacy in the world of Hip-Hop music. Killed in 1996 amidst a feud of East vs. West coast, after his death Pac continued to release studio albums of unreleased material and is admired today.
He would have been 40 today, a lost rapper who has given the world of music an interesting character to look back on and remember. Think about it like this, Jay – Z is 41, he came up around the time of Tupac and Biggie- would Tupac have been at the same stature that Jay-Z is today? Or would he have been a Snoop Dogg (kind of out of the spotlight)? Everyone always asks “Biggie or Pac?” – Well my answer was always Tupac. I loved Tupac’s music as a young teenager – when I didn’t know what “I Get Around” even meant, I was listening to Tupac. That was my nigga!
Call me chonga , ghetto , hoodrat – but I loved Tupac , made the best Tupac mixed CDs (which all the guys were impressed by), and rode in my mother’s car forcing her to hear my “negrita” and play “Picture Me Rollin” or “Looking though My Rearview”. I had a whole CD case with just my Tupac CDs (which were all burned , sorry couldn’t support money wise I was 15 I need that for lunch) – and I enjoyed listening to them and recalling all the lyrics.
Surprisingly yesterday, the world received a development on the cause and possible investigation of his death in 1996. Read below:
A prisoner has supposedly confessed to being involved in the 1994 robbery of Tupac Shakur, in a statement posted online Wednesday, the eve of what would have been the rapper’s 40th birthday.
In a confession posted on AllHipHop.com, Dexter Isaac, who is serving a life sentence on unrelated charges, said he was paid $2,500 by James Rosemond to rob the rapper outside Quad Studio in New York. Shakur was shot during the robbery, but Isaac does not identify the shooter in the statement.
The attack fueled the East-West coast conflict already brewing between Shakur and Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace. Shakur and Wallace were killed in 1996 and 1997, respectively, and the crimes are still unsolved.
New York police said they will investigate the inmate’s claim.
Wow. If your don’t re-call the shooting prior to the Tupac death involved the shooting of Tupac in a studio in NY where Tupac swore that it was Bad Boy related , which triggered the East vs. . West battle. It’s been over 20 years with no development in the case and now the world is one step closer to finding out, “WHO SHOT YA!” – Okay, okay that was corny. But maybe it will put to rest all the Tupac’s Alive rumors (which I believe/believed, I heard he’s in Jamaica).
Here I’ll leave you with a few of my classic but favorite Tupac songs! THUG LIFE !
