There Will Be NO Vogue Africa

and my question off break is “Why not?”  There’s Vogue US, Italia, Nippon, France, Germany, Russia, and many, many more editions of this wonderful magazine. however, Conde Nast has declined Vogue Africa a liscence. this gets two very enthusiastic thumbs down from me. this is actually sounding like complete BS.

you know, it would be so great to get to see other sides of Africa- not just some tribal dude with stretched out ears and a baby with a big belly and flies all over him. there is truly so much more to this wonderful continent full of diverse and amazing countries. South Africa is quite similar to Maimi Beach, full of tourists from other countries and a bustling scene.

but who cares right? thanks Vogue. EFF Vogue Africa. EFF gorgeous and hard working African models. EFF eliminating stereotypes and helping people realize that skin color doesn’t make or break you. and while im on the subject, WHY IS THE DARKEST GROUP OF EVERY NATIONALITY HATED ON?? hispanic, asian, african, its all the same and it blows. someone once asked me which magazine i liked more: Vogue or Elle, and i chose Vogue. now, i feel myself leaning towards Elle.

so here are the some of the only covers of this magazine that will never be printed.

and you can read about it HERE Via Highsnobette

    this is tragic…!!
i agree with you, why the FUCK not??!!!
when i think of Vogue, i think of their mission of being not only the leaders of world wide fashion, but unearthing fashion meccas that are not on the “fashion world’s” mind…like, Africa is a fashion mecca as it is, and you are correct, Africa is so diverse and i think Vogue should celebrate that and make Africa’s fashion more accessible to the world…

ps- do you know if they are actually selling the few issues they have of vogue africa??

    damn. that’s such a blower.

sidenote: finally went through this blog. pretty thorough. not my normal stuff i read up on, and that was a good thing. refreshing for me. a dude reading a girl’s blog. i think that dudes don’t read enough women writing. and girls always read guy’s writing. so maybe this is the beginning of a revolution!!!! ha. just keep up the good work.

That’s pretty sad. I don’t mean that at all in a sarcastic douchebaggy way either.

I realize this is an old post but I feel the subject is worthy of a reply. It is a shame that the wold will be denied such a statement in beauty and culture. But to the author of this post who seems to take it up with Vogue as the faulty party. It seems to me Vogue does uphold its place as the leaders of worldwide fashion. Elle? not even close. VOgue is the company that pitched the idea. It’s their parent company Conde Nast that shot it down.
