My sister and I have fond memories while watching CONAN O’ BRIAN show on those late-night weekdays when where suppose to be in bed for school. We couldn’t keep down our laughter and soon were yelled at by our mom. This is a product of the comical genius that is the Conan O’ Brian show. Jay Leno ?? Hmm , not so much , he was only funny when he did the newspaper clippings ( feel me? ) . Something about Coney (our nickname for him) just was more real and less commercial.
After the months-long controversy about Conan’s unfortunate situation (in which he was given an earlier time slot in a trade with Jay Leno on NBC , but then due to low ratings – Jay Leno took his old time slot back , leaving Conan without much choices) – Conan has joined TBS (they know funny) to have his own comedy late-night show again.
The late night television game has lacked excitement for many TV viewers since his departure from NBC – and the popularity and support for Conan has skyrocketed. Many ( like me ) have been waiting for his arrival and the premiere of the new show. It premieres tonight and this week will have all kinds of interesting celebrities and guests.
Tonight’s show will feature Seth Rogen, Jack White and whoever won the first guest poll. The rest of the week will be filled out by Tom Hanks and Soundgarden (Tuesday, November 9), Jon Hamm (Wednesday, November 10) and Michael Cera (Thursday, November 11).
What will other late night shows be doing in response to Conan’s return? Jay Leno and David Letterman have brought out the big guns , with guests like Harrison Ford and Cee-Lo (Monday), Denzel Washington and Bon Jovi (Tuesday), Russell Crowe and Snoop Dogg (Wednesday), Cher and Bruno Mars (Thursday) and Reba McEntire (Friday, November 12). O’Brien’s old rival Leno will welcome Arnold Schwarzenegger (Monday), Chris Pine and Lee DeWyze (Tuesday) and Kim Kardashian (Thursday) to “The Tonight Show.”
This will be interesting to see the ratings for all three competing late-night shows after the fact.
