Its Winter in Miami, usually that means I could go to the beach and get a great tan in December. But the ONE day I made my boyfriend come over to have a beach day, Miami decided to be 70 degrees and too chilly to even touch the water. So instead we stayed in and ordered 50 bottles of Corona’s at Lime Mexican Grill while I gobbled down on a quesadilla that I shouldn’t have eaten (I’m lactose intolerant). This is the life.
I’m in love with the very limited (emphasis on limited) TRAP PARADISE tee’s designed by the extremely talented Gianni Lee of Babylon Cartel. Inspired by the infamous Bird of Paradise flowers, the shirt features the names of the people who made TRAP PARADISE an epic party. Look out for another extremely limited and great design for the next Trap Paradise……

I kept it very animal friendly (except for my lamb skin purse and leather banded watch, can’t win em all right?) with a dark colored ensemble. Lot’s of black, some gold and some snake on snake on snake prints to make thangs pop a little. Also I pulled this Zara top out of the theoretical back of my closet; Since it’s so weird I barely wear it. It’s almost like wearing a medieval chest plate ( I can only assume.) I thought today would be a good day to just kinda pile on the weird fabrics- I used a shiny snake print scarf to customize my thrift store found shorts. Topped it off with a snake print belt.

This was anything but a lazy Sunday. I was running around with my dog in Wynwood, running errands and got a little grocery shopping done. This is what I chose to wear today:
Even though Miami is getting hotter each day I chose these sweats because they are light and flowy, perfect for deflecting the sun and not too heavy. Also I thought it would be nice to wear the Jimmy Choos I splurged on and then kinda forgot about a year or so ago.

In a rare occasion of togetherness, we took the time out to do one of these What Did You Wear Today posts. We kept it low key with a simple base of white and denim and added vintage accessories and great everyday shoes. So check it.

This past Saturday, as every second Saturday here in Miami, I attended the street festival dubbed, Art Walk. On this night many people from all walks of life converge into the design district and Wynwood area of Miami where galleries open their doors to the public for drinks, music, oh and of course art.

I made my way to Art Walk with a couple of old friends and saw many familiar faces. And cot’ damn was it cold! It doesn’t get cold much in Miami but this night it hit the low 60′s – what felt like 50′s – and everyone was prepared in full layers … well accept for me. I have a habit of always dressing inappropriate for the weather but I stuck it out fortunately.
By the way, I am not in love with this building I took this picture in front of, which is located in the Wynwood area called, The Wynwood Building. the stripes remind of the old O.H.W.O.W. building but remixed. Check this shit out!

Had a great time with a couple close friends and ended the night with good music. You can’t go wrong with that!
Check out some photos from a few galleries from January’s Art Walk at Miami New Times photo gallery.

I decided to rock a gray-scale type of outfit today instead of my usual craziness. It’s getting into Miami’s “cold season” but it’s still pretty damn hot. I really wanted to wear my gray suede knee high boots, but I’ll wait until the weather is actually nippy.
What did you wear today?

So today I went thrifting with my friend Josue and we ended up in Douglas Gardens, the giant Jewish-owned thrift store in Liberty City. This is not a ‘hood safe to traverse alone, late at night. Needless to say, I got more than a few stares today because of my clothes. I’m sure I was that “weird girl” today, which was fun.
Fingers looking mad long here…
I have been obsessed with Tulip-back shirts- the ones that fly open when you walk, but I didn’t actually buy one until I ran across the store “D’or” which we lovingly called “Christian Dior” even though it’s a Chonga club-wear store. There were actually quite a few gems intertwined with the cheap, bedazzled and stretchy clothes and “Levanta Bum Bum” jeans.
Want to find some cute Tulip-back tops? Look at this nautical top, this flowery one, or this green one, or this plain pink t-shirt, or this cute striped tee, all available online at Urban Outfitters!
By the way, if you don’t know what a Chonga is, find out here!
Chonga: Primarily found in Miami (most famously, in Hialeah), the chonga is known for her cheap form of dress, a combination of the so-called gangstalook and that of a prostitute, but can vary between the two. She wears ridiculously large hoop earrings large enough to be bracelets, which are usually gold and have their name written in them, and diamond studs high up on her ears. They may also wear thick, gold bangle bracelets in stacks on their arms. Depending on how ghetto she thinks she is, she may wear oversized men’s t-shirts with tight, usually white Brazilian pants…
Haha, anyways, here is what I wore today. I’ve been keeping it pretty simple, expect 2 Dope Bitches to get crazy again soon!
