With all the legislation and political outrage/protests for and against medicinal Marijuana kind of becoming old news, are people just not really caring about who smokes what anymore? I recently read an article about the effects of the plant on women’s health, but the first thing that stuck out in my mind wasn’t what it may or may not do to my feminine body, but that no one is upset about how accepted it is.
I think that’s pretty dope.
Finally, the one vice that is pretty much non-addictive is seeming to slowly be taking it’s rightful place in society. I mean, people can get addicted to cigarettes, coffee and alcohol legally, but may go to jail for intending some earth-grown, non-chemical leaves? Well, not so much anymore. It seems that the laws are starting to change on the topic of simple possession.
22 states have carved out legal protections for pot users, ranging from decriminalization in some places [such as Alaska, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island] to medical exemptions in others, to outright legalization in Colorado and Washington. (Article, Wiki)
After reading the Refinery29 article, I suppose I learned a little bit. You actually CAN have withdrawal symptoms if you are a heavy smoker and then stop cold turkey (I don’t smoke so I can’t attest to this.)
“Marijuana withdrawal is subtle. If you’re smoking every day and you suddenly stop, there are symptoms — decreased sleep, irritability, decreased calorie intake — that people don’t tie to stopping marijuana.” That’s because, she says, the withdrawal is not an immediate response. The onset of symptoms doesn’t begin until the day after a person stops smoking, and it doesn’t peak until three or four days later — too late for most people to connect the two.” (Article)
Even with that said, I’m sure it won’t make people lay off the green- it may just answer a few questions like why you couldn’t sleep well for a few days. It’s interesting that the spin of this article was based on how women specifically are affected by Marijuana- the answer seems hazy. Other than possibly lowering one’s fertility, the effects seem to be about the same. However, the marketing may start to change. As the legalization of weed seems to be on it’s way (it’s still a federally illegal, btw,) the push may start leaning towards the shop-savvy sex. Cannabis scented candles and Anti-Aging Weed Treatments anyone?

The Zombie Man
Man, when Memorial Day weekend rolled around, us Miami-ans expected to hear stories of drunken fights and drama with obnoxious tourists.
What we did NOT expect was to hear about a cannibal on the McArthur Causeway. Oh, you didn’t hear? A MAN WAS EATING ANOTHER MAN’S FACE ON THE BRIDGE. As crazy as it sounds, there is no exaggeration here.
This is the fucked up crazy shit that starts in the beginning of a scary movie. I feel like it’s the beginning of freakin’ Resident Evil. In case you don’t know somehow, Resident Evil is a movie series based on a video game about a weird not-too-distant future where zombies are out for the brains of any survivors of some mysterious fall out.
Anyways, officials are saying the man was on the hallucinogen LSD but it was some “new form” that turns users , and I quote, “ into zombie like cannibals.” WTF?? So there is a new drug on the streets, easy enough for some homeless dude to get that makes people want to eat other people.
Some people laughed about this when they heard, but this is so serious. As a woman, shit as a person I feel the extra need to protect myself when I’m out. Everyone should. I skateboard sometimes and think “Damn, if someone attacked me all I have is this board…” but trust me if I see some bamma coming at me with the look of hunger in his crazy eyes I will turn back into 9th grade Aja the track star !
And don’t just think this type of thing happens at night- it was around 2 pm ! Broad daylight. And the fact that the man reportedly turned, smiled and growled at the police officer is maybe the scariest part. Oh also that the officer shot him and he kept on eating… that too.

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Rudy Eugene is identified as the “Causeway Cannibal” aka “Miami Zombie”, the man who eat someone’s face off on the MacArthur Causeway this weekend. LSD is now being blamed for the Causeway Cannibal attack and a condition called “excited delirium”. Local news is reporting that a new version of LSD on the streets of Miami is turning people into zombie like cannibals. And police are telling news that the situation is very serious.
Rudy Eugene was found eating the face off a homeless man on the MacArthur Causeway near Miami’s South Beach. Officials tell news that Rudy Eugene ate, and digested, roughly eighty-percent of another man’s face. The victim is in critical condition. But friends of Rudy tell news that he never exhibited conditions like this in his life.
So what caused the attack? Miami police union chief Armando Aguilar tells news that he has seen several cases involving LSD in which theperson becomes a zombie-like attacker. He tells the Miami New Times that the person becomes a raging incredible Hulk. “I’m going by similarities in other cases of excited delirium I’ve researched in the last couple of days”. Eugene was so uncontrollable that police had to repeatedly shoot him to finally kill him.
The fight erupted at 2pm on North Bayshore Drive and NE 13th Street. Javier Ortiz, spokesman for Miami police’s Fraternal Order of Police, initially told news that the two men were running across the MacArthur Causeway, unclothed. But now, more details about those final moments have been released.
Eugene had lost his home in 2011 to foreclosure. In recent days, Eugene was allegedly seen hanging out with homeless persons. On Sunday, witness Larry Vega saw the drama unfold between Eugene and a homeless man. Vega tells WSVN that “The guy was, like, tearing him topieces with his mouth, so I told him, ‘Get off!’” Eugene heard Vega’s shouts. Eugene reportedly stopped eating, turned, and looked at Vega, growled and smiled “with pieces of flesh in his mouth”.
Aguilar tells news what police found when they responded to the scene. “He was actually swallowing pieces of the man’s face.” Aguilar tells NBC Miami that Eugene had digested 75-80% of the man’s face. Doctors tell local news that Eugene’s condition suggests that he was on a new version of LSD. Dr Paul Adams tells CBS Miami that LSD has contributed to nearly a half dozen similar criminal cases around South Beach this spring.
According to NBC Miami:
Parts of the confrontation were caught by The Miami Herald’s surveillance camera, which overlooks the crime scene. A witness said he couldn’t believe what he was seeing during the Saturday attack.
“He bite him here, here,” said the witness who identified himself as Eric. He grabbed at his own cheek and neck to demonstrate.
The veteran Miami Police officer who responded told his superiors that he pointed a gun at the attacker, who was naked, and asked him to stop.
“He growled at him like a wild animal and kept eating at the man’s face,” Aguilar said.
City of Miami Police say the officer had no choice but to shoot the man. His wild behavior was symptomatic of excited delirium, Aguilar said. The disorder is usually drug-related and can incite violence, unexpected strength and even hyperthermia.
“Inside their body their organs are burning up alive. They’ve reached temperature where their actually burning up, and it actually makes them take off their clothes,” Aguilar said.
The website exciteddelirium.org has uploaded video examples of people experts believe to be suffering from the disorder.
There have been four recent cases in Miami-Dade County including one with 21-year-old George Salgado, Aguilar said. In April, police said they had to use a stun gun on Salgado because of his aggressive behavior. A 911 caller describes his encounter with Salgado to the operator.
“There’s a naked man, and he’s aggressive. He tore my clothes and tried to bite my neck,” the caller said in Spanish. A medical report showed Salgado had taken three stamps of LSD.
But in Saturday’s case, police believe the officer saved the man’s life by shooting the attacker before he could harm him even further.
“There’s no doubt in my mind. The man would be dead right now,” Aguilar said.
Police urged any residents that witnessed the incident to contact them at 305-471-TIPS.
Jackson Memorial Hospital‘s emergency room has seen an increase of people suffering from psychosis caused by a variety of drugs.
“Cocaine and new LSDs, they cause delirium, which (means) you don’t make sense when you take them,” said Paul Adams, an ER doctor at Jackson Memorial Hospital. “And when you don’t make sense and you don’t control your emotions, you don’t control your actions, you find yourself in circumstances that you just don’t want to be in.”
Dr. Adams said he has seen the effects of a designer drug nicknamed “bath salts” – which also causes body temperatures to spike – during and after the recent Ultra Music Festival.
“People don’t drink water while they’re taking it so they become dehydrated. So you mix dehydration with elevated temperature with loss of inhibitions, and you have a life-threatening combination. Mix for disaster,” Adams said.
Bath salts were banned in Florida in 2011, but new formulations have become dangerously popular.
“We’ve had several deaths. Earlier last year we probably saw our first deaths from bath salts, where people (were) running onto MacArthur Causeway, under MacArthur Causeway, being chased by the police and then all of the sudden just collapsing,” Adams said.

I’m pretty sure you probably have had it up to here with 9/11 reports , specials , television programs , radio shows , newspaper articles , etc. – even if you feel ashamed to admit it. I’m going to be honest and say I’m kinda over the media coverage leading up to today’s September 11th anniversary but nonetheless it’s needed to remind us of what happened and changed the lives of all Americans 10 years ago.
10 years ago. 10 years ago. What was I doing 10 years ago? I (Norma) was in 7th grade in Highland Oaks Middle. I had not received my first kiss yet. I wore DADA Shoes (Google them). And my favorite hobby was stalking boys – pre-facebook days. And on September 11 , 2011, I was sitting in my home room class while they took class role and the television was already turned on. As I looked up I saw the towers , one tower burning already, and the news commentators were reporting it was a plane accident at first. My classroom was a buzz with students speaking about what it might be and the teachers leaving the classroom back and forth while they discussed the events going on. It was pandemonium in Miami, Florida – I can only imagine New York City. I remember sitting there as a pre-teen thinking to myself. Not speaking to anyone the whole time, I thought ,” I will remember this moment for my whole life”. Now ten years later I’m telling you this story.
I now have had more than my first kiss. I’m a 3rd year student in a University. And I still stalk boys – but now I’m more advanced about it. And apart from the conspiracies, the many in-depth reports and documentaries, and finger-pointing – I can say that whats most important that came out of this event is that we can no longer be ignorant to ourselves as a country. We are not untouchable , we are not invincible. We are just as vulnerable as the rest. And we have to be careful and humble as a country. To be honest , I’m the kind of person that like to stay in the box, and I don’t believe all the mumbo-jumbo about conspiracy this and conspiracy that. Stop trying to make something more than it is. Nonetheless, my heart and prayers go out the families affected , I could never understand you pain other than to know your loved ones are now in a better place.
I (Aja) am a bit older than Norma, I was actually a freshmen in high school, sitting in my Home Economics class, TV on, and we all witnessed the second plane hit the towers. I was 14, and still too shy to stalk boys. I was living in Branford, CT and one of my sisters was living in NYC. I was sitting silently, hoping and praying my sister was nowhere near those towers. Luckily she wasn’t. I can’t even imagine what it must be like for the people who actually did lose family and friends. And then I think, what about people in countries that we (America, certainly not me) attack every day?? They don’t have a day to remember this bad thing that happened, they have things this bad happening all the time. Back then I was too young and naive to even think about conspiracy theories or covert government stuff. But now… Point is, it’s a tragedy no matter what way you look at it. HOWEVER, let us not forget and like Norma said, let’s not be ignorant- to things going on in the world- and realize that there is a war going on. America is waging a war on MULTIPLE countries right now, where civilians, kids, moms, dads, innocent people are casualties ALL THE TIME. I say that , not because I don’t think we deserve to mourn, just to point out that we aren’t the only ones suffering. There are LOTS of Americans who were directly affected by this tragedy. Construction on the new World Trade Center is underway. One World Trade Center , also known as the Freedom Tower, will be the tallest building in the United States, standing at a symbolic height of 1,776 feet (541.3 m), and among the tallest buildings in the world. It is scheduled for completion in 2013. This is just one building in the many which will be built in place of the two towers and rebuilding the complex of the World Trade Center site. Damn you Hurricane Irene,
You have ruined yet another sunny and beautiful Miami weekend. I actually had a few interesting things planned and thanks to you , I’ll probably be sitting in my Aunts house in the middle of the Hispanic hub city called Hialeah. I can already imagine it , the next day after the storm people will be in the streets and selling fruits and water to people without electricity. Viva Hialeah.
On a more serious note , As of the latest 5 p.m. weather advisory from the National Hurricane Center - the committee reports that Hurricane Irene is now a category 3 hurricane with wind speeds reaching up to 120 mph. The latest computer models which are tracking the storm and its movements are now predicting and tracking the path as now moving West towards the united States. This is bad news for the Eastern Seaboard. So everyone from Carolinas to New England needs to gear up for possible landfall from this category 3 whirlwind of power.
Irene has already made dramatic landfall in the Southern Bahamas area. It’s expected to leave the Bahamas area , heading West towards the Carolina’s on Frida . Damage reports are already flooding in about the effects this storm is having on the Bahamas population , only proving that its strength is only gaining and developing along its route.
“A church wall blown out on Mayaguana Island, missing boats in the Turks and Caicos, roofing stripped from Crooked Island’s high school and government buildings, downed trees and lost power everywhere.” , states one Miami Herald report which highlights the effect the storm is taking on our neighbours to the East.

Pharrell already tweeted via his new personal new twitter @4real4rell that its sold out in stores already ?! Literally I get paid Friday and I am going to go to my nearest liq store in the radius and copping this drank for Friday/Saturday night. It looks so yummy and might I add this bottle is exquisite?!

It’s truly a great feeling to see our site go from a wordpress.com free blog about what we get into in Miami to a REAL WEBSITE with actual readers! I mean, the impact 2dopebithes.com has had so far is an accomplishment in itself. Too many people are complacent with government and don’t try to change things these days- whether you’re down for Luke Campbell being your next Mayor or not, get involved! and come out to party either way- I mean, why not right? There’s never a reason to stay home on a weekend in Miami!
Mr. Campbell recently did an interview with The Miami New Times, the Magazine he writes a column for- and explained why he is a serious candidate and not some joke or gimmick. Check out a few excerpts:
New Times: Why are you running? Are you crazy?
Luther Campbell: I am mad frustrated. I have always been involved in politics, going back to my battles in the city of Miami Beach, dealing with the city commissioners and the mayor. I ran my own nightclub, and I believed African-Americans were treated badly during Memorial Day weekend.
I get in my car, ride around Liberty City, and everything looks the same as when I was in the neighborhood growing up. I see the same crimes in the same areas. Officers and residents are still getting killed in the community I grew up in. I go to a city like Atlanta that has sensible affordable housing, and no one is being murdered. I go to Miami International Airport and see the same construction that has been going on for like a hundred years. All of that frustrates the hell out of me. Why aren’t we getting it right in Miami-Dade? Why is our government only serving one set of people? That’s what is pushing me to run.
I’d also address the situation at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Miami-Dade has the highest number of uninsured people in the state. We can’t allow the public hospital to crash, or we are going to have sick people in the streets. My last resort will be raising taxes. We have a long laundry list of things that need to change with the county. We need someone with vision. I believe I have the vision.
What’s with your plan to tax exotic dancers?
LC: Even though all my stripper friends are gonna be mad at me, I think we can stimulate the economy with a tax on strippers. They make all this money and don’t pay taxes. I’d take that cash and put it into a fund where it supports youth athletics for girls like cheerleading or softball. Or it can go to help pay for existing little girls programs that are struggling to get government assistance.
What type of campaign will you be running?
LC: Grassroots! I’ll go after those voters who have registered but haven’t been excited enough to vote. Barack Obama‘s crew in 2008. I am going after everybody from 18 to 50 years old. It will be just like music marketing. Fun. We will be having campaign parties before the election to get people motivated, get them behind something historical.
Honestly, his points don’t sound bad at all- I’m not from Miami but he seems to be all about creating a better Miami-Dade for the generations to come.

OK but seriously. The internet is a buzz from the recent allegation from a Christian radio host named Harold Camping. Camping runs a show called Family Radio from his Oakland, California studio and has studied the bible for 70 years. The 88 year old ‘bible scholar’ used to be a civil engineer and it was a few years ago this man made a couple of calculations and crunched a few numbers and came out with a special date for the Day of Judgment: May 21, 2011.
His show is heard all over the world, according to him, it touches every part of the globe, from Cali to China. “We are now translated into 48 languages and have been transmitting into China on an AM station without getting jammed once,” Camping said. “How can that happen without God’s mercy?”
So lets put aside all the speculation, all the doubts, and laughter – what if this day really was judgment day? The coming of Jesus and the rapture. You will be judged or you will be dammed to hell! Okay, that’s scary, but this is what believers of Christ believe. Religion is a scary concept when you think about it too deeply. I’ve been having a few doubts and questions arise since I switched my major to Religious Studies and let me tell you, religion is more than belief. Its formation of human nature and society, it builds morals, shows the true character of human beings and their gullibility.
Do you think you have lived your life justly? Treating other with respect and kindness? Do you think if you died tomorrow would you have lived your life to the fullest? The judgment day date is probably more than likely 98.9 percent BULLSHIT, but it’s got to get you thinking…
